Hi!

Back in the day I had a CX4 in 45 ACP and it was actually the gun that triggered my love for shooting. 45 ACP was a bad choice at the time since it came only with 8 round mags and the ammo was expensive even then but I got some 16 rounder extensions from Sierra Papa (still have those but no longer the gun). Did this gun fall out of favor? There hardly seem to be any coming up for sale these days and never any in 45 ACP? Does anybody know?

The thing about CX4 that works for me is they accept 92/96 magazines to work alongside a pistol. I like simplicity like that. Not sure how that worked for the .45 model

the 9mm version is where it's at. sooner or later i'll send mine to sierra papa for some upgrades and then form1 it to get rid of that ridiculous unnecessary long barrel
especially if you get the 90series mag adapter. Although I expect an APX adapter might be coming, which will be a nice addition.

I've got one in 40, it can be setup to take 96 or PX4 mags. I have a full sixe PX4 as its companion. Its super ergonomic and super reliable. Being designed from the ground up as a PCC, the magwell is in the grip saving about 3" off the overall length compared to AR based designs. It's one of the shortest PCCs made that's not a pistol or a sbr.

I've got the .40 too. I really want to shoot a PX4 because I didn't care for the 96. The CX4 is shorter than the SBR M-2 carbine I used to own as is.

If you weren't almost 200 miles away you could try mine. Let me know if you're planning on coming near Chatham Co,

Hhhhhmmmm....

If it was capable of being chambered in .45, that means it would have had enough space to potentially run 10mm.

That would have been NEAT.

I have the 9mm carbine and the PX4 in .40 S&W, come on down to Battery Oaks sometime in the future. :)

I don't think i'd seen a folding stock mod, but I know Sierra Papa does a LOT of good stuff for the cx4, including adapting an m4 stock, removing the top integral sight nubs, and a complete metal replacement for the fcg.
I think, technically, if you're making mods or shortening the barrel, you need to redo the trigger to make it 922r compliant. not sure about the legalities, but it does have a crap trigger that needs work.

The sights work fine for me and it looks funky with an m4 stock... but that trigger...

When I first fired a cx4 I thought I had left the safety on.

I've shot one that was no worse than a 5-6 pound standard AR trigger. My old M&P15 was worse.

Yeah he does make great stuff. I was involved with him when he came out with the 16 round mags and did a BETA test with 700 rounds of ammo function testing the mags. They worked great even with steel cased ammo. I still have the mags I bought back then. Personally I was okay with the trigger but I am not really a trigger snob.

If you are ever considering selling it please contact me.
I have had it probably over 20 years......... 2017 just before the cut off date in July I had it converted to 12 inch SBR. Extremely reliable, I ran a bunch of different ammo through it, and never had the first issue........The stocks a pain however, in that crack on the cheek, it pulls your beard hair, every time........ I covered the entire crack with black duct tape, problem solved..... LOL........... I also had a 9mm once, but it was not nearly as reliable, so I moved it down the road........... Because of this thread, I dragged it out, looked at any data I might have had on it and saw I had zero data since conversion to SBR. I am back from the range now entering data....... I fired 50-60 rounds in it, no problems.......Not for sale, sorry...... has anyone checked GunBroker? I have not in years, not for one of these anyway.......

I can't blame you I dearly wish I still had mine, it was the gun that really got me into shooting.

Wow, these things have gone up substantially, I remember a few years ago, operative term is "A Few"......... $600-$700............. Today that number has gone to $950-$1125 it seems....

There are 3 45 ACP Storms on GunBroker this morning..........

Just FYI.............

I looked at them this morning, but man, I bought mine brand new for about 700 back in the day, hard to justify spending that much on a used one.

I used to be able to pick up 30-30s for $125 and M1carbines for $179 too. What's your point?

There are other PCCs that are fare more affordable these days and 45 ACP is expensive anyway. This would mostly be a purchase for the good memories.

I bid on the 9mm Cx4 that Triangle Shooting Academy had in their rental pool, but someone else won it.

I ended up with the Kel-Tec Sub 2000 for my pistol caliber rifle fix. It is fun, but I would still like to add a Cx4 to my safe.

I have the CX-4/full size PX-4 combo in 40, but I got to fondle a PX-4 compact saturday and want one bad. May be looking to trade my full size soon. I would lose the pistol to carbine mag compatibility but I could still go the other way.

You would still be able to use the full size mags in the compact.

Looks like X-grip makes an adaptor for that.

I found a company that will chop the stock on a CX4 to create a much more usable PDW. Makes me want one.

The PDW looks awesome, but I'm glad somebody figured out how to Dremel off that Sarah Brady-butthole stock. 👍

Can't stand those damn things, and I can't get a proper grip on ANY firearm that has one; I won't own one, unless I can Dremel/replace it.

You should try it before you knock it. It's not at all awkward.
