Question for my combloc brethren. Found a guy locally who's willing to sell his NIB unconverted Saiga for a pretty good price. I may be able to toss in some ammo I have no plans of shooting to sweeten the deal even more.

Realistically, what would you usual CFF AK suspects pay for a Sporter today? What does a "good deal" look like to you? I'm on the fence as I'd like to keep some cash banked in case another sweet 5.45 gun deal comes along, but am I stupid to pass this up? I already have a rear-converted "matchstick" Saiga but really enjoy it as-is:

It's great to have more Russian guns in the safe, but I'm not a flipper at all and would really only buy this in hopes of converting it somewhere down the road (Indiana winters suck butt, so this could wind up being a fun cabin fever project).

Kinda esoteric post. I guess to recap the title, how much would you guys who know your AKs spend on a Saiga Sporter with the express plans of simply stashing it away for a rainy/snowy/SHTFanny day?

What is a velcro rear end?

What @Thomas Willert said. Russian American Armory used to be the sole importer way back in the day. They either ordered too many or canceled an order or something, and other importers bought up the surplus and stippled out the original RAA import stamp. The rough spots are always found on the right rear side of the receiver. Hence the "velcro" and "matchstick" nicknames.

I paid $600 for mine. Seemed like a lot at the time but once I got it converted it seemed like a deal.
