Really don’t know where to post this or even if I should, but I’m going to anyway. If it’s something I shouldn’t I apologize.
I have shared on here before about my Dads kidneys not working and him being on dialysis. Well, there has been some extra complications lately and I’ve Been staying With my parents for going on a month now trying to help. During this time my mother became sick and has been down for about 2 weeks also. About the time she started doing better, he’s taken another nose dive yesterday. So I find myself continuing to stay on a while.( Really thinkin about movin back to Rock Hill ) Today I took him to dialysis and even more complications while at dialysis.

I tell all of that to tell this
We got home just a little bit ago, got him settled and into Bed...( He recently bought a 300 wsm....pics in what have you purchased firearm related) He tells me If something happens to him before hunting season to kill a deer with with his short mag and he’ll be watching to see If I get him. It just came out before I could think and I meant it as a joke. I told him I’d have some of his ashes put in some reloads and shoot the deer with him. Boy, he jumped all over that idea.

So I was just curious if any of you think this might work?
I know it sounds crazy and I could very well get laughed at for this but hey, what ya think?

I think you're going to have to make it work now. But I hope you don't have to make it work for a good long while.

I would mix a small powder lot 20:1 with ash and load it up.

There was a company a few years back that would put ashes into shotgun shells, (like a buffered load), so your hunting buddies could take you along for a duck hunt or perhaps for pheasant. Another company would add your ashes to a wooden carved working decoys so you could still duck hunt after you've passed.

Not sure how many grains of ashes would be required in a rifle load.

For me, I had a piece of Dad's old Red/Black wool hunting shirt sewn into a patch that i could pin to my jacket to take his memory with. Still have the 20 gauge hull from the slug that killed his last deer.

That’s a cool idea... I know I’ll do something like that when the time comes just so I’ll have those memories and feel like we are still hunting together

I think it's a great idea! But that doesn't matter - what matters is he liked it, and you & he had a laugh and a good feeling about it during a troubling time of worry and discomfort.

If that ain't love & good care-takin', I don't know what is.
Guess, I’ll have to give it a shot when the time comes...Or maybe I should say give him a shot...

If anyone can offer an educated guess on this, it would be @Michael458 .
Of course it can be done. It would be simple if it were a larger bore size and case size, 300 WSM would be a little aggravating to work with to get right maybe, but yes it can be done..........

I think you just de-crimp a regular shell, dump the shot, load the ashes and mash it back down. That's the way we used to load rock salt.

Personally I want my ashes sitting on top of 10 pounds of tannerite and blown to smitherines.

I'm for sure no expert but I would think regular loads of whatever ammo wouldn't be over pressured (maybe with max loads?). If one were to fill some air space with ashes.

Seems like a really cool idea to me.

I will say (morbid) it will take alot of reloads to use up all of a person's ashes.

So build many rounds for this venture but also have a place they want their eternal rest to be fulfilled
