Whatcha' listening to?

Been listening to The Cars a lot lately

Bought this record last week, currently spinning this song on the old turntable.

Solid record, great voice.

Bluegrass type of band covering punk track

Banjos, washboards, and punk rock...into it (Seen this band open for NOFX, Anti-Flag, and Bouncing Souls...they were so good! Plus Im a D4 fan, the band they are covering here)

If you haven't heard it check out Lionel's Tuskegee album. It's duets with country singers. I was impressed. Here is a song from it with Willy Nelson.

Whoa, that was a great track!
I was not familiar with that album, but I'll be on the hunt for it now!

Chant of the Templars

Love this guy's 5-Minute Chronology vids. Really good drummer that has found a unique way to market himself outside of the band(s) he's involved in.

I posted his Beatles a while back...or maybe on the other site, here is RANCID.

Had the urge to listen to both of these on the way home from work the other night.

First up is one of my favorite awards show performances of all time. Chris Stapleton is classic. And Justin Timberlake, like him or not, is one of the most talented people in the entertainment industry. Together, it was pretty dang amazing.

And then there's Carrie and Vince, performing a classic in a simple yet beautiful way.

When you just discover a 20 year old record.
Thats me right now

So I saw this band a few weeks ago in Philly.
I knew a song or two before I went, honestly hadnt thought about them in years, figured, like most ska bands of the turn of the century, they just faded away.
Well I was a fan of one of the opening bands so I was stoked to go.

TURNS OUT...These guys, well the singer, had a brilliant idea to turn their songs into a kids show. They got popular.
Singer also started Yo Gabba Gabba, another music-themed kids show with real, popular artists/bands...he's found his niche.

The live show was excellent, the production was high for a small venue (only 650 there that night, small club that only held 1200 anyway).

Since Ive been back Ive remembered some of the songs that they played and they are catchy. Goofy, but catchy.

My favorite is this, Shark Fighter

Also, I enjoy this track about hugs. And not about Thugs.

Their show was great. LOTS of kids in attendance (well over half of the audience under 14!), but it wasnt a kids show like I was scared it might be. It was just a fun show with a bunch of punk rockers and kids all having a great time.

a few ^'s Chant of the Templars => one can hear the solemn Salve Regina and much more chanted live at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rocky Mount on Sunday evenings.

Gretchen Menn:

Pulled out the Melvins "Stoner Witch" cd to crank up on my drive into RDU tomorrow morning.. need something rockin for the long drive.
