I'm in the market for a 10/22. It may wind up with a can on it. I like the idea of a pistol/thumb hole grip (but those are available all over aftermarket Imassuming). Other than that I'm pretty open.

What would you get?

I have several with the mannlicher or european style stocks mainly because I like the look.
I also have a couple of the hammer forged models real tack drivers but an increase of weight over the standard models.
edit: didn't notice you were going to to put a can on it till I reread the op. so both models I mentioned are a no go for you

I picked up one of these a while back on a whim.

Very nice for the money. IMO you still need to replace the trigger, but it is usable out of the box. They claim 3.5 lbs. Have not measured mine. Threaded barrel and decent stock. If you want to shave some weight they offer a carbon barrel as well. Bergara mags don’t drop free for some reason, but standard 10/22 mags do. Just add the optic of your choice and it is ready to go.

Pretty cool option. Where'd you buy it?

Fuquay Gun & Gold in Fuquay Varina, By God, North Carolina.

They used to carry both versions before the chaos. And pricing is also good even compared to online options.

I bought the cheapest one I could find. Took it home and ran a mag thru it. Tore it down to the receiver, added a trigger kit, then proceeded to add the stock and heavy threaded barrel I wanted.

No point in spending a bunch of money on stuff you're just going to take off.

If I had to do it again I'd just look for a receiver.

Couple of years ago I bought a 10/22 Takedown and had Rob at Clayton Guns thread the barrel. If you buy one unthreaded he can thread it for you.

Definitely would opt to build one, you can get several 10/22 type receivers and just collect the parts you desire building it the way you like. If you are worried about messing it up or needing parts start with a used 10/22 and just upgrade it then when you really know what you want and feel comfortable you'll know what to get for your dream build.

Enoch Industries makes super cool chassis options for the 10/22.

What will be your purpose for the rifle?

Bench shooting for small groups?
Walking around the woods popping tree rats?
Rimfire competition?
Teaching little ones to shoot?
Something else or some combination of the above?

Think about it from there and let the purpose drive the features.

As to the question you asked, "Which 10/22 should I get?"... my answer is typically "all of them...." (Only slightly joking...)

There is the option of buying a receiver and building it. My go-to there is sapoutfitters.com. I've bought several new, stripped receivers from them. They've been routinely out of stock of late though. Like many things...

I have the Lipsey's Sporter 10/22, stainless version, 22" barrel. A beautiful rifle. A stock photo is attached. Upgraded mine slightly with an auto release bolt plate, extended mag release, and a Picatinny rail. A fine, good looking shooter.

Out of all the rifles I have let get away from me, it's a stainless 10/22 in the grey laminated mannlicher stock I have missed the most. Haven't been able to find another in the 20 years I have been looking. I've seen plenty of black and brown, but not a single grey one.

I wanna braced Charger.
I have a 10/22 sporting; a Kidd trigger (picked up a Kidd drop in, it’s yet to be tried), Volquartzen barrel & fiberglass stock.

The 10/22 version is coming from Big Rock’s Hamlet, NC warehouse. The inside of that place is a LARGE toy store.

I have a braced charger takedown that I put a Holosun RDS on. That is STOOPID fun with a can on it....a squirrel’s worst nightmare!!

That’s what I’d like. Still kicking me self for not picking up one here a while back.

I have been thinking about doing the same thing since I know i want a binary trigger, carbon barrel and a different stock. Are they pretty easy to assemble if i can just buy the receiver I need?

Starting on another build using a Kidd receiver and an Archangel stock

I’ve got .22 WMR CZ with that stock, I love it!

Here’s my new one. Heavy threaded barrel, all metal precision bolt, slicked up trigger and a beautiful laminate stock with adjustable comb. From the Ruger Performance Center.A6F1970E-C72C-4B6F-8372-99964EE1126E.jpegD1C2BE9A-FA57-47BD-807F-919BBD257B32.jpeg7127BB13-7B70-47C6-93D8-4E7AB361F98A.jpeg
