So only a portion of this thread belongs in the rimfire section.

I am thinking about perimeter alarms in either .22 or 209 primer.
I have a 12ga alarm but I remember a time when 12ga blanks were difficult to find.
The strongest .22 blank Ramset sells is Yellow which is not as strong as Red.
I found a no-name brand .22 blank in Red and in Purple. Purple is supposed to be stronger than red.
Yes I know I can just go buy one of each and test it myself but I was just wondering if any of you knew off the top of your head.

Thanks

Just pop the old primer out, press in new?
Cut the plastic off a regular 12ga shell and use it multiple times? I imagine the blank chamber is shorter preventing 2 3/4 shells chambering.

Possible??

As you can tell I know nothing about 12ga blanks.

I imagine 209 is louder. I’d use those in an empty shell like suggested above.

I’d put my energy into reloading 12g blanks if you want noise. Maybe use a 22 blank for an indoor application?

I think what you want is a Grenade Top tripwire alarm, which uses a 209 primer. No need for a shotshell blank...
I have always liked the look of the FITHops stuff. Haven’t tried It.
