Gorgeous, but no way that, even if I could afford it, Im paying 50k+ for a 1911. At that point youre just buying something cause you have more money than brains.
Again, gorgeous to look at, though.

That's probably the best looking one of those I've seen. For me Damascus can either be beautifully understated (as in that one) or hideously gaudy (ala the Jesse James one). That goes for knives and swords and anything else.

Wth is Damascus steel?

Real Damascus is a whole different thing. This is pattern welded Damascus. So they take two steels one with a higher percentage of Nickel and they stack them up weld the together then cut the bar into pieces and do it again to get a pattern. Then the steel is etched in acid to brig out the pattern and polished.

Its from Syria. The Taliban is hoarding a lot of it now and causing the price to rise. I consider it a muslim product, so I dont have any.

You know that Syria and Afghanistan are really far away from each other, right?
That plenty of Damascus is made from scratch here in America. That, as far as I know, true Damascus steel was lost, and the only one that makes something close to the original is an American, right?

you realize that your sarcasm meter was obliterated in a nuclear explosion, right? you realize you have no sense of humor, right?

When I look at things like this I try to exclude price from my "like or not like". I'm having a hard time with this for some reason. While I generally like Damascus I'm not sure I like this application.....?

I like Damascus for knives, if not over done. Not fond of it for guns. I know Damascus is not considered a particularly strong steel, so maybe that influences my feelings. I want strong steel in my guns, but appreciate the nuances of Damascus in knives.
