Looking to replace my wifi router (one built in the TWC combo unit). Looking at the Netgear nighthawk but would like to hear some real life recommendations from users.
No gaming, just Kodi and surfing the web. Need extended coverage to get to the other end of the house.

I ditched the TWC built in and went with the Nighthawk and Netgear 36 channel modem.

I was only getting 30-40 megs on average with my iPhone on the 5g

now 250+ is my norm.

(300meg service)

which nighthawk did you get? I have 200 meg service

Just went thru this. Bought a Refurb'd Arris Surfboard with 16 Down channels for $50 from Newegg.com, and a AC1750 Netgear router from Wally on BF for around the same amount.

Doubled my overall bandwidth to close to a steady 200Mbps on TWC Extreme plan which is only advertised as 30 down and 5 up .......and no more spinning buffering indicators. Also, ditched the $8 a month charge so this stuff will be paid for in a year.

As far as internet load household-wide, I have 5 people with multiple devices, 2 Rokus and an Xbox One that are constantly in use as set top Netlfix machines plus games and my son plays CounterStrike Global Initiative with his friends. Again, the beast has been unleashed as far as speed goes.

Here's the result of a speed test just now on my wi-fi connected 2011.5 IMAC in the same room as the wireless router

I use an Arris Surfboard modem and I don't recall what router but I HIGHLY recommend Ubiquity access points for WIFI. I don't recall what router we used for wifi but it was not a cheap one, the difference in signal strength and speed after installing the AP is night and day.
