Winchester 63?

Nice rifles. Screw on back of receiver is for take-down. I have one but it's missing a few parts, and not in as good condition as yours. Enjoy!

Glad you asked. I haven't seen mine in awhile. I got it out just to show you. I bought it around 1963 from a School Teacher who needed some money because of a Teacher Strike. This was in WVA.
Nice little gun shoots reliable and accurate. This model not scope compatable, but they made a model that was.16538458598456968153319216602985.jpg

Wow, that one looks new!
You’ve been a very good steward to that little rifle Sir.

Thanks for the compliment. It had a little bit of light rust on top of the receiver right above the take down screw, I believe it was a thumb print which caused it and a small spot on the barrel which I was able to buff out almost. This rifle has been used by me for Squirrel and Rabbits. It has also been the demise of several tin cans.

Nice...

I own some older, semi-auto Winchesters and have been looking for a 1903. Seeing this thread, I'm saying to myself, "That's a model 63? Looks like a 1903 that I'm looking for...."

Then I Googled/Wiki'd it:

"In 1919, the Model 1903 moniker was shortened to Model 03, and following a partial redesign in the 1930s, was renamed the Model 63. In addition to other changes, the model fired the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. This cartridge was more popular than the .22 Winchester Automatic cartridge, and was demanded by customers.

The Model 63 was first available for purchase in 1933 and remained in production until 1958."

Glad this post helped you learn and increased your search radius.
I find that this line of Winchester rifles were ahead of its time and a very interesting history (police and foreign military use, etc.). The 1907 Winchester in .351 is a semi-auto, magazine-fed rifle with reportedly (Wiki) similar ballistics as a 30-30 or .35 Rem....in 1907. Our military was still using the powerful 30-06 bolt action into the 1940's. A mag-fed, intermediate cartridge rifle 50 years before the US military actually adopted one.
