I have been after one for a while and finally ran across one I was happy with. Currently trying to clean 60 yr old grease and oil from the crevices as it appears to have been sitting for quite some time. Anyways I was overjoyed with the purchase and had to share

I had a 52 heavy barrel as a kid. Wish I still had it.

Nice find, you may already know odorless mineral spirits will dissolve old grease and oil as well as cosmoline.

I did not think of that, I have just been letting remoil soak on it then hitting with a rag.
I put the barrel from my Mosin in a 2" pvc pipe with end cap and then filled it with OMS,
tied a string to shake the barrel every half hour. All small parts in a plastic tray, stripped the oil clean off.

Google (or DDG is what I use) a product called "Ed's Red". Brownells sells it now but you can make your own. It does a great job of cleaning. Just don't let it get on the finish.

Wonderful rifles.

It's one you'll always enjoy. Congratulations

I spent several evenings diassembling and cleaning the 30 year old oil turned grease from its crevices. Sights were stuck. Bolt was not smooth at all. But atleast it wasn't rusty. I haven't had a chance to sight it in and see how it shoots. Hopefully soon

Nice looking rifle. You can shoot some amazing groups with those aperture sights. The couple 52C's I had weren't very far behind the Anschutz 54's.
