Picked up a Winchester model 55 "semi auto" single shot today for the grandson. The mod. 55 was a big failure for Winchester. Big win for the youngest grandson even though it will be a few years before he can shoot it. Pretty good shape.

That is the case ejector port

really fun and 'weird' manual of arms

looks mighty fine condition and was put up 'right'
how's the top loading gate? understood that was one of the potential issues
saw somewhere years ago someone reproduced them.

i've not shot mine too much, must less even seen it in a while....

What a great find. It's hard to beat a good old single shot 22 for introduction to shooting. Specially for youth shooters. I think it really helps slow them down so they can learn safety and fundamentals. I started with my great grandpa's winchester model 67 single shot 22s,l,lr at 5 years old and I still have it and have taught my little sister's to shoot with that same rifle and now I'm getting to introduce my nieces and nephews to shooting with the same rifle.

The rifle is in good shape. I will scope the barrel tomorrow. The loading gate is in good shape. Made of "bakerlite ". I am going to take it off and bring it to my oldest grandson and have him 3D print if for me. Hopefully he can do it.

Thought I had posted the other day. Finally got it cleaned up and shot it. I was very surprised how accurate it is. This was bought for my youngest grandson. Hopefully this summer we will get to shoot it together.
