You get a bonus point for doing with a smoke though!
As Clint says, "I have never seen a chronograph at a gunfight!"
And also, "You don't have to shoot fast - you have to shoot well. If you shoot well, you'll be fast."
I figured it would be more realistic.
We have distinguished guests on The Battery Oaks . @Hashknife and his friend Larry Brown are here for a while. We went to Mike's today for lab work on the 300 Hammer they brought. When we got back we all 3 tried the Wizard. As per Hackathorn, Cold and Concealed. I was hoping heartily to give away 2 new shirts. Alas, the only successful candidate already has one. The Wizard is tough.
I see what you did there
I bet you're not.
I'm certainly no expert but may I suggest you work on reacting to the B in the beep, not the eep. Ask me how I know.
And video yourself if possible. It really helps.
How does it go? Fast is fine, accuracy is final, or something along those lines.
Keep it up, you will get there.
I am. I’ve done the drill in a class that was discussed in here a few days ago.
The trigger staged and all you have to do is break the shot when you hear the B in beep. I’m slow.
I’m under the 2.5 seconds with rounds on target on the first three strings of the drill.
It’s breaking that last shot on the last string that puts me over 2.5.
While that is indeed where the trouble comes in, there are an amazing number of misses at the 3 yard line.
How about a picture with your new shirt????? You are still only the third awarded shirt.
Finally got around to uploading this video after knocking this one out this week.
I liked this drill. It was A LOT more challenging than I thought it was going to be. The consistency I found in it was due largely to feeling like I had to "dial" each shot in before I was comfortable with letting the shot go. Glad I saw this one here, as I hadn't even seen this one before, let alone shot it. The learning continues.
I tried this today for the first time today, several times, using G23 5 o’clock in a Crossbreed SuperTuck.
I was hitting 3 & 5 yards one handed under 2 sec reliably, if I got my cover clear. Kept failing at the 7 yard mark.
Now I’m annoyed, thus hooked to beat him.
PM sent. You will be awarded shirt number 4...When done right it Looks really easy!!!! How about a picture when you get it??
Thank you sir! I’ll get it to you ASAP.
That was impressive!
It looked like you were in no hurry at all. lol.
Thanks! That's exactly what I try to go for. I have found that when I rush myself on an exercise like this, that is a sure fire way for things to come off the rails. I've had my faire share of disasters, and they almost always happened while I was in a hurry.
I'm so new to shooting, and especially to the timer, that all that beep means to me is "begin".....after that I can't think about it. I'm slow and trying to be safe.
Being safe is a great thing, hands down. That being said, there is a point where you have to come out of your comfort zone in order to find progress.
And make no mistake, being a new shooter and being exposed to the "stress box" that is the shot timer will do far more good than harm. You are on the right path.
Hence the (2) matches! Talk about out of the comfort zone! Wow.
Shooting one with the .45 should be a challenge, and I can't wait to see what happens.
One day, I hope to do a 2gun match, but that will be at least a year away.
I got a late start, but I'm pushing myself. Lol. It's scary, but fun.
