Just like the title says.

What ammo have you had the best experience with through your 10/22?

Target? Hunting? Doesn't matter. I would just love to know what ammo works like a champ for you every single time.

While we're at it, if there was a particular kind that was horrible, knowing that would he helpful too.

Thanks.

I mostly shoot cci suppressor and American eagle suppressor ammo in the 10/22. I just shoot steel not shooting for tight groups or shooting squirrel in the head.

Steel Challenge, I run Federal bulk ammo... maybe a misfire every other match or less?

MiniMags shoot same POA at 50 yards and are good hunting rounds.

I’ve never put “better” ammo in a 10/22—the magazine and chamber chew up rifling bands by design.

Remington Thunderbolts for all the rifles & pistols! My .22s must be bottom feeders, they are LESS accurate with CCI anything! 🤪🤣 My Browning Buckmark pistol chokes and short cycles on all the CCI stuff I have ever fed it but keeps on trucking with the cheaper stuff like Thunderbolts, Federal bulk box, Winchester 333 boxes, etc. No rhyme or reason, just is!

Any of y'all who find Thunderbolts too low brow to use in y'alls guns, PM me and I will pick all of 'em up fer FREE! 🤣

Found minimags to be most reliable for my particular gun. Standard good as well.
Be happy to get federal bulk. Best bang for the buck.

My Vq Bentz chamber 10/22 prefers CCI SV.
Remmy Thunder Turds damaged my MKII barrel. I called Ruger and asked why my Competition Slab Side had dimples in the rifling. Their response was, “Are you using Remington ammo? If so stop. We’re seeing a lot of this. Send the pistol in, we’ll rebarrel it and don’t use Remmy ammo.”

I shot one 25 round mag of thunderbolts out of my 10/22. By the about the 15-20th round, I noticed something wrong. Keyholing and misses of entire target.

I thought somehow I had a squib and then sent more rounds and buldged/ruined my barrel. But it was just a shocking amount of leading. Took a lot of work to get it out. Huge chunks. Couldn't believe it.
Now I send any Thunderbolts I get to my mother in law.

Never tried the supposedly good stuff like Eley, RMS, etc..

Tried Federal Gold and Federal Match, CCI in a couple types

Aguila seemed to be more consistent in Super Extra at 1255 fps.

Least favorite ammo- anything Remington. Winchester too.

Anything Federal or CCI (except subsonic/quiet) works great in both of mine. Winchester is a decent 2nd choice.

Remington works OK in my 10/22’s unlike my other 22’s which jam constantly, but I still won’t bother buying/shooting Rem.

Mine likes CCI Standard Velocity best out of everything I've tried, which is only CCI SV, CCI MMs, and Federal AutoMatch.

I've noticed that standard velocity 22lr doesn't work very well with my Butler Creek mags. I tend to think it's the lack of a metal "ejector" on the mag feed lips, and the bolt doesn't get pushed back far enough to hit the ejector in the receiver. High velocity works fine, anyone else notice that?
