Short wait times for suppressors are the new normal

I bet my form 1 with paper prints will delay the form 4’s ( i read if there is more than one form in the system they do them all then, but not sure if theres any truth to that)
There’s not.

Or at least not anything consistent.

I filed two last Monday for customers . The EFT guy came back in 33 hours . Other one hasn’t come back yet
Any difference noted with SSN or not?

Also, Form 1 question before I guess wasn’t really related. Just thought I remembered a little while back where ATF was getting antsy about buying the parts and having them, then filing a Form 1. Maybe not true but hadn’t looked at it more since.

They just dont want you building one from pre made solvent traps aka undrilled baffles. So dont tell them youre doing that. Things that should be unsaid. Im an engineer not an attorney so follow my legal advise at your own peril.

Add me to the list of folks who bought a suppressor thanks to the shortened wait times. :) I've been meaning to get one for years now... finally getting on the boat in hopes it'll be completed and in-hand before election season. I did it as a single-item trust, which supposedly is taking a bit more time, but... I think the advantage of being able to add folks to the trust will be worth the extra wait.

Come on people…you gotta say more than “a suppressor” when you post this.

Tell us what you chose? And what it’s going on?

I ordered a Surefire RC2 Mini2 5.56 in dark earth to put on my 14.5, 16, and 18" 5.56 ARs (Daniel Defense upper/bolt/barrel, LMT/LWRC/DD ambi lower, G handguard, FCD and G small parts). :)

I'm on the notification waitlist for a Surefire 300 SPS Socum suppressor as well - once that gets back in stock I want to order one of those as well, for my 300blk AR.

Here's a photo of the 18" in its current state. I still need to get it its own dedicated optic and mount, and it wouldn't hurt to get its own Atlas or Harris bipod. Leaning towards the Leupold Mk5HD 3.6-18, Nightforce ATACR 4-16, or Steiner T6Xi 3-18. 14.5" will have either an Aimpoint T2 or Eotech (currently just has a Sig Romeo 5 on it), and the 16" currently has a Nightforce NX8 1-8 on it.

Anyone know off had if there is a silencerco kiosk in Winston Salem?

I really do love that they have leaned hard on the kiosk descriptor.

When I see a comment or question like the above I keep waiting for someone to say "Isn't there one across from Cinn-A-Bon? Beside the soft pretzel place?"

While I personally haven’t used SS in years (since before they became a distributor)…for those wanting to get into the silencer game for the first time, know this: you only have to go to the kiosk once. You can upload photos and do all your other work from the app and website. You just need to use the kiosk to capture prints. So even if you choose another one of their Powered By dealers because they’re closer, you can go to one with a kiosk once and get your prints scanned.

I got my last can via a kiosk. Do I even need to go to again for the next one?

So SBRs are days now too? And the SBR is the serialized lower, right? (Not a huge fan of the upper I currently have.)

I’m pretty sure you don’t. That was kinda the joke when it all started. Make one trip to the kiosk…order the next can while sitting on the can.

Your prints are on file. The photo is supposed to be taken within the last year. It’s my understanding you can take a selfie and upload it in the app.

Correct on all accounts.

well the can i ordered either showed up today or will show up tomorrow.
I'll be submitting via trust on eforms
Gonna see if i can't upload a 24-month exception letter and get in on these new faster approval times
It has been 6.5 months since my last form 1 approvals.

My issue today is more about availability of product. My Sparrow 22 has been on backorder for over a month. Perhaps with the short Fed wait times more folks are buying suppressors?

I’d say that’s a massive yes. The wait time and stipulation of the paperwork scared people off, there’s nothing to it now. And even with a massive influx of people ordering cans, the wait times are still 3 days.

at cancon last summer, the silencercentral booth was basically on fire with people lined up to set up to-your-door can shipping
I think the new ways companies have figured out to make the process easy has "encouraged" the feds to streamline the process because they have no choice now. lawsuits would become a regular thing and they'd lose all of them.

I gotta make a stop by a dealer tomorrow to do eform4 stuff. honestly, having to go somewhere, multiple times even, is becoming annoying and inconvenient. but at least he has started texting me offers on stuff before he puts the up for general advertisement.

Lucky for you…that gives you time to cancel it and buy something else. 😎

Well, I gave in and bought a can. I’d wanted to get one of the Vidar 22 cans from Hansohn for awhile, and then when I saw I could get it for just under $300 delivered I pulled the trigger.

I think this puts my rimfire can count at a baker’s dozen. 🤔

Missed the 24-month exemption by ~3 weeks (3/18/22 was my last approval) but no big deal. Hopefully it shows up at THSF soon and I can get it submitted. Maybe the same trip as picking up my CA19 pistol, considering it hasn’t even shipped yet.

36 minutes from “your order has been received” email to this one:

It's for my Glock 44 plinkster. Any other recommendations are greatly appreciated. 👍🏻
IMHO, almost any other rimfire can on the market. I have about 4 dozen cans, and my Sparrow is really the only one I regret buying.

It was the king at one point, but so many better options out there…ESPECIALLY for a handgun. It’s heavy, with noticeable FRP on a pistol. It shines in one scenario, when you want to tuck it inside a rail and not worry about leaving the mount behind when you remove a can. And I hate the disassembly/reassembly process.

TBAC 22TD
YHM Phantom 22
DA Mask
Rugged Oculus
HB Vidar 22
AAC Halcyon
EA Nyx
AAC Element 3

I’d buy a dozen of any single one from that list before I (personally) would buy a Sparrow.

Which CANCON were you at?

I've been looking hard at the YHM for my first 22 rifle can. Any reason to skip it for something else?

I plan on doing 2 form 4’s and a form 1 Tuesday. Hopefully it’s a pretty streamlined process, it’s my first time dealing with the ATF.

GA last year. not planning on phoenix because that's a hike
Nice, I did Savanah 2yrs ago and Phoenix last year. Would do Phoenix again this year but we’re doing a concert in San Diego the same day.

I am hitting 21 days on two and 14 days on two others tomorrow. I think I may be lost in FBI hell, but I also haven't seen any approvals from 3/17 or 3/24 on the reddit NFA tracker thread. Anyone know of 3/17 or 3/24 approvals?
