Happy to be here
It was a new head and camshaft during rebuild and all looked ok at install.
Aftermarket head?

Glad you finally found us over here! Yes aftermarket head from Engnbldr with his 261C cam.
Thanks!
I had an egnbldr head with oversized SS valves on my 86’. I started having similar issues shortly after install. Ends up they didn’t cut the valve seats at the same angle as the valves. I was on a trip West with it and ended up having to swap heads in a parking lot in Grand Junction, Colorado. Had probably 5k miles on the head when I replaced it. Hopefully you’re not having the same issue.

Just in case you are not aware Gm has redesigned cam bearings avalible to help correct those issues.HELP Wanted!
I finally tore into the 5.3L Chevy motor with the #3 spun cam bearing.
The bearing's dinged up and won't go over the cam, it's tight in there and all I can figure is find something to cut it with. Any ideas?

Post more pics as you go through the build! It wasn’t my garage... it was a buddy’s garage. Got him lined out and started framing today. Glad it wasn’t as windy as yesterday.

Then I must be smarter than Einstein! .......A clean garage is the sign of mental illness...
The new design is slightly wider.I hope I got the redesigned ones! They're about 1/8" wider, the ones on the ends were a workout to install.
The rest of the engine looks like it's got only 25K miles on it.

Last weekend, did a top end swap on the old cr125, cleaned carbs on the banshee and replaced the rear axles of the grizzly... pulled the engine from my kids yfz450 to find disaster.
Hoping to get it torn down and 75% overhauled while waiting on top end parts... splitting cases and doing bottom end "hopefully" today.
One of these days, the kids will not tear something up long enough that I can address the rear suspension of my goat
Using a quart of oil in 5k is not unusual for just about any motor. Heck a Subaru will do that in 2500 miles and they consider that to be exceptable for a new engine, I do not but Subaru does.switched back to what VW recommends for 10K mike OCIs, that golden elixer made in Germany by Elves only for Castrol. Mobil 1 was a bust in the Passat leading to losing about a quart over this past 5K miles.
Mounted 2 new tires on my Zero Turn. A lot easier than I expected...
this engine didn't use a drop when running the factory fill Castrol...only until I switched to Mobil 1 Euro...Using a quart of oil in 5k is not unusual for just about any motor.
