Just a little info I got in an email today from an examiner. I saw this topic:
https://www.ar15.com/forums/Armory/My-Experience-w-Batch-Processing/17-501754/
...and figured what the heck, it would only take a minute to fire off an email. (I do have Ted’s direct line and email address, but I used the Ask The Experts anyway)
Submitted the request yesterday evening (after 8p) sometime and got a reply this morning just before noon. Here’s what I sent (with some info redacted):
I had two EForms approved last week (7/23) for permit numbers 201926#### & 201926####. I also had two paper forms approved on 7/22 (SNs T00### & EL22###). All are registered to Lastname Trust, and no changes have been made to that document. Can that info and background checks be used to approve serial numbers OCT45K-#### & TK00### that are already in the system?
And here’s the reply:
Mr. Lastname,
Both of the serial numbers you gave also have an approved background check. We are working forms in the order in which they are received and we are currently working forms received in Aug. of 2018.
TK00### was received in May 2019
OCT45K-#### was received in November of 2018
Unfortunately we are unable to pull these forward out of the processing order. I anticipate we should be getting to the November 2018 application soon. We are processing applications as diligently as possible.
Thank you for continued patience.
So, my takeaways (most of which aren’t revelations) are:
1. They’ll never tell you the complete truth, as there have been
multiple examples of batch processing in the last several months
2. They aren’t honest (or really just don’t know) about what’s being worked for some reason...as I’ve seen July, August, September, October and November (maybe even December) forms already approved, that weren’t part of any batch
3. They’re working August, yet my November form is “soon”
4. The background checks are done earlier/faster than I was aware of
In regards to the BGC, she said my Turbo-K is basically already “approved” by the FBI background check process, roughly two months after I mailed it in. Mailed it 5/22 and CC was charged 5/28. That gives you an idea of how long your forms just sit around in a box waiting their turn. The two paper forms I had approved 7/22/19 had been pending since 8/13/18.
I guess the positive takeaway, if there is one, is I shouldn’t be in the BGC black hole you hear about. Trust document hasn’t changed (and wasn’t even sent in with the Turbo-K), so that shouldn’t cause any delay. Just a matter of waiting for somebody to open the boxes my forms are in.
