2023-24 edition animal harvest pic thread.

Enjoy some for me. I get migraines eating pork 😢 I used to love bacon and ribs. Haven’t had pork bacon in 7 years

This is free range pork. It doesn't cause migraines. Just tuberculosis, or some crap like that.

But seriously, have you tried wild hog in any form? I'm assuming you're eating domestic pigs and I would be curious if there's a difference between those and wild.

Here's a pig my Dad raised from a runt, and I'm sure I'll never get a bite of him unless my Dad passes before it does.

I have not tried wild hog. Although I have been curious if I could eat sausage from one. That would be nice since I love sausage biscuits and turkey sausage is just not the same.

Here’s my coon skin in progress since picture thread and all

If you have any connections at all, give wild hog sausage a try.

But, BUT, be sure that it's made with the fat from the donor hog and not fat from farm raised pigs. If you want to be sure, that's about the only way, in my opinion.

The problem, though, would be trying to get 30% fat in the sausage from a wild pig. They tend to be a lot leaner than domestics.

Kinda hard to tell, but there's hardly any fat on this sow from a few weeks back.

March 1st, the saddest day of the year for me. Another rabbit season comes to a close. Three months of thrills and excitement with great friends and family. We all take it so seriously, and have so much fun. Sure, I see them throughout the year but it’s not like when we’re all together December through February. Anyway, even though we had crappy weather today for the last day, we turned the dogs out at 7 am sharp and had 3 rabbits by 8:30 when the rain really set in. We came back to the shop, had our cookout and beverages. Now I’m waiting on Thanksgiving Day 2024, 272 days till the next rabbit hunt!

Public land NC. (NO, I wont tell you which one lol)
Shot with a .280 Ackley Improved 150g Nosler Accubond Long Range from "20 yards"....
Glad I had the ABLR's 🙄
Rough green score 162".
My wife was supposed to shoot this buck but she couldn't get a shot on him so I got it.

(I'm glad she didn't shoot it. HAHAHAHA 🤫)

Nothing like listening to a pack of beagles picking up a trail at dawn. I’ve long lost the land I used to rabbit, but it is still provides some of the greatest memories to me.

I've got video from the early 2k's of the senior members from the hunt club gettin a rabbit hunt rolling.
A real cacophony of 50+ Beagles and a dozen or so old men talkin smack. 😃 It was more of a "social event" than real hunting.
Those were good times. We have only a coupla rabbit hunters left and loads of rabbits..

If you ever need another hunting to make fun of for missing a rabbit, let me know. I’m your guy 🤣

@Crankbait You and your family should come to our annual Wild Game Feast at my church in T ville on Saturday nite. You never know what you might get to taste. Of course our pastor say's we will have tame game for those who are not so brave.
