Yep...DVR will be set for this.

The WWE version of Biography will feature eight legends, and each documentary will be two hours long. It will start with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin on April 18 at 8 p.m. ET. The other legends that will be featured are "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Booker T, Shawn Michaels. Mick Foley, Ultimate Warrior and Brett "Hitman" Hart.

I LOVED wrestling as a child. I quit watching in my mid teens. I loved it, until I didn't.

I don’t know exactly what these will cover, but I listed to Joe Rogan interview the Undertaker recently and it was fascinating. First time I’d ever heard him talk out of character.

Did he sound much different than you expected?

On one of the DSotR episodes it had a guy, and I forget his name, but he was one of the 'wild' guys in the 80s. But he had played college football and, I think, some pro football for the Redskins.
And there was an interview where he was just talking like normal and then said, "hey , tell me when you start taping so I can get into character"
These guys, normally, are pretty, well, normal, but play these roles.
Sadly, many, also, get too far into drugs and that really messes them up.

I don’t know that I had a set expectation, but he lived in character for 30+ years inside and out of the ring. Here are three clips:

@BigWaylon he mentioned Bruiser Brody - THATS the guy I mentioned before, the football player. I couldnt think of his name.
Im halfway through the first video, loving this, thanks dude!

Not a wrestling fan, but got hooked on the Dark Side of the Ring series and so Im interested in this.
I'll have to set the DVR to this

If you are or were a wrestling fan, you owe it to yourself to check out Dark Side of the Ring. @HMP which was your favorite episode?

That whole interview was on YouTube for a hot minute, then disappeared. I'm mad I didn't get to see the whole thing.

New Jack is good because that dude is crazy as heck
Chris Benoit is great because of the tragedy and science
I liked the Owen Hart one a lot
I liked the Slap Heard Round the World one too

I haven't seen many of the interviews, but I wish they would get the old guys on there. The ones we grew up with like Ricky Steamboat, Jay Youngblood, Olie and Arnold anderson. I remember seeing guys like this wrestle in the gym of the local high school. (JM)

I can’t watch WWE or any of the new stuff..

I grew up on NWA wrestling...

Ric Flair, Duthty Rhothdes, The Koloffs, The Road Warriors, The Andesons, Steamboat, The Mulligans, Manny Fernandez, The Great Kabuki, Jimmy “Boogie Woogie Man” Valiant (who later became Charlie Brown from out of town), Junkyard Dog, Tully Blanchard, Magnum TA, Ronnie Garvin...

That was the heyday of wrasslin.

Not sure which is more surprising, that the wrasslers think there are people out there who honestly believe they are their characters, or that they're right to some extent.

The Fabulous Freebies, and the Von Erichs too! Saturday morning wrestling brought to you by Jim Crockett promotions.

Kinda related to this series, so I’ll just add it on to this thread since it’s the same subject. A&E is doing a WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures series. Premieres after the first Biography episode on Sunday the 18th. The search for all the popular props from the stars.

I’ve been watching wrestling “shoot” interviews on YouTube lately. They have great stories and it’s interesting how they went from basically regional circuits of wild men (booze, drugs, women) to one corporate entity.

I watched in the late 80s to early 90s as a little kid and then again in the early 00s in college for fun.

I need to look this up so I can put it on my DVR, havent yet
Thanks for reminder!

Stone Cold starts in 5 minutes...

...and the Most Wanted Treasures premieres afterwards. First episode looking for Mick Foley (Mankind, Cactus Jack, Dude Love) stuff. The sock puppet, brown vest, and flannel shirt.

I have high expectations for rich redneck weirdos being involved in this series. 🤣

Just put it on record, how do yall think it is so far?

i liked the first episode which was on stone cold. i wasnt really a fan of the wwf as a yoot - but i did watch quite a bit during the "attitude era". i thought the first episode showed a good amount of his history and backstory along with some interesting interviews etc.

i'd recommend it.

I really liked the first one. I like this stuff way better than Dark Side series.

I think Steve is as entertaining as anybody in any industry. The ad lib and quick thinking that got him the Austin 3:16 and That’s The Bottom Line quote was a stroke of genius, and HHH reaction to it all was great.

I think the moment Steve and Rock had in their final match was pretty cool.

One minor little thing...I found it really weird how much difference a little goatee makes, and the difference in a buzz cut vs a shaved head.

Did anyone else wrestle in Jr High/high school?
~1988 I heard all the time, "that fake crap's not a sport, it's faggots rolling around together".
I never was was a fan.

Yessir! Add to that, the Rock and Roll/Midnight Express, Jim with the tennis racket, 4 Horseman and Wahoo McDaniels.

but those "faggots rolling around together" are earning bank, to the point that the "real wrestlers" cross over

Local boy here was standing in the line outside the High School to get a good look and the Rasslers as they went into the building. He had just enough to drink to jump over the barrier and take a swipe at Rick Flair with a pocket knife.........
He told us later he was NEVER in his whole life So Glad to see the Poleeece.
Seems like these Rassler fellers really stick together when something like this happens.

Bob Caudle was the voice of our childhood.

In the 50s we watched Rasslin on channel 3 from Charlotte. Mostly snow on the screen in Dillon County...but we still watched....My buddy of many years later Bob Howser' father in cahoots with Jim Crockett were the first bigtime promoters of Rasslin in Charlotte. They also had the Semi Pro Baseball wrapped up there.
Somebody help me remember the ringside announcer he was a great big fella that wore glasses. Woulda been about 1955 or so......

Gorilla Monsoon, maybe?

The 'scorpion/sting" vs Flair, mid 80's...

Great matches...

And those guys got hurt, fake or not.
