I’ll be trying that. My best friends grandparents poured milk over chocolate cake. My wife thinks it’s weird, but I enjoy eating it that way. Maybe apple pie this way is just as good.My Dad used to put it in a bowl and pour milk over it......

Cheese, specifically sharp cheddar, has been served with apple pie in the U.S. as early as the 1800s. But the combination was likely born in England in the 17th century; a tradition of using dairy-based sauces in pies evolved into an affinity for topping pie with cheese.

I think it’s just a copy/paste from the first thing that came up in google anyway.Citing British cuisine is almost never a solid way to win a culinary argument.
Of course… it explains why some have cheddar cheese with apple pie..I think it’s just a copy/paste from the first thing that came up in google anyway.
Plus strong cheddar cheese and apples are fantastic together. I used to eat a couple of apples, a big lump of cheddar and a big hunk of buttered bread for lunch a lot.Cheese, specifically sharp cheddar, has been served with apple pie in the U.S. as early as the 1800s. Adding ham -- real ham, not some thin-sliced deli paper -- to that mix also adds a lot. And the sharper the cheddar, the better the sandwich.Plus strong cheddar cheese and apples are fantastic together. Also excellent. I used to get hams every so often from my boss who ran a pig farm with several clay fields (I was a trap monkey). Every so often he'd bring me a canvas sack with a proper smoked ham in it. Some of the best ham I've ever had.Adding ham -- real ham, not some thin-sliced deli paper -- to that mix also adds a lot. that about sums it up. milk and in a bowl , little after it came out of the oven.My Dad used to put it in a bowl and pour milk over it......
and the beetus approve. My Grandma would make a cinnamon “drizzle” in a saucepan from butter, cinnamon, brown sugar and such that she’d spoon a little (or a lot depending on what you wanted) over the slice just before serving. On special occasions she’d plate the slice, top it with vanilla ice cream then drizzle the mixture over both … it was like main lining sugar 😋
A few years ago I would have said miracle whip, but since moving down here i know the correct answer is duke's (but some people apparently prefer hellmans)
