New Month and we are still looking for some decent weather (at least on weekends) to get out and shoot.

@Eric F was our winner again and I think we all enjoyed the very fitting alien Target. History has always been that we don’t have the same person pick targets two challenges in a row and we will keep with that here.

Our runner up and now tasked with our next target is @Got2hav1 . As soon as he posts one and we all can agree on tiebreakers we will be off and shooting.

A reminder of our rules below. Haven’t shot with us before? Just do it!

Standard CFF Monthly Rimfire Benchrest Challenge Rules
- Target size: standard 8 1/2 X 11 paper
- Target distance: 50 yards
- Any position you like
- Front rests, bipods, front/rear bags, bunny ears.... all are ok
- No full length rifle mechanical rail/sled type rests allowed
- Iron sights or any optics allowed
- All done on the honor system. Shoot it, score it, post it.
- winner chooses the target and challenge for following month
- post copy of target and pictures of your rifle setup and ammo used

Good shooting everyone!

Shoot the center ring for score. Outside center ring no score. On the center ring good score. Total 260 possible points. Tie breaker shoot the zeros (10 possible scores). Good luck to all.

To clarify: if you score a perfect target and we pneed a tie breaker, shoot a separate target trying to hit the "0" in the number. Possible 10 zeros available.
Just throwing it out there…Why not save the ammo for the tiebreaker and count the zeros hit on the original shots? Save 10 rounds…

I would be ok with that but let’s hear from others too.

Agree

So you have a perfect 260 , then count how many zeros ... like ARA counts X s? I'm OK with that if everybody else is.

If the 0's were centered, then it would work, but they are offset. I aim center target, so if I hit the 0 it is random. I prefer a 2nd target for a tie.

Good point. I'm good either way. Amps 13 why do you say?

Same here and some who are not so good (like me) have a hard enough time trying to get decent scores let alone hugging the line trying to hit zeros. How about letting people choose which way they want to shoot it. Since chasing zeros on one target is harder let’s give bonus points for that. How about an extra point for each zero you hit.

My first time seeing this, but I'm game to try it. Just to confirm it is 12 total shots fired. One per Clay on the paper for total score of 260 and target distance is 50 yards.

Also from what I'm reading previous the "0" are bonus if hit Or tie breaker will be reshoot for all "0".

And make sure you take a picture of your set up. It's not required, but we love the photos of gear. Have fun.

Correct on the first part.
you can do it two ways. Shoot for a perfect score and then do another target shooting at just the zeros Or you can try to shoot for a perfect score while also trying for the zeros.
If you do it this way each zero gives you an extra point.
meaning if you get a perfect score and hit 3 zeroes you add 6 points to your 260.
If I run a perfect score and shoot another target just at zeros I would need to hit 6 zeros to match your score.

Still having issues (more than usual) in getting groups to tighten up but at least it was nice out. I set the bar low to make you all feel good about yourself.
Ruger American in a Boyd’s stock with Vortex Viper glass. Shot with SK Standard.
wind about 5-8 MPH.
best I could get was a 180.

I think it would be 263 with 3 zeroes hit. All good Amps. I accept the challenge either way. Most important is having fun and improving skills. Lots of time to get out there and burn up some ammo.

So, counting X's for 0's @ 1 point each. You actually scored 186. Correct me if I am wrong. Nice!

It was a beautiful day. Forecast for the next week not all that great. Thanks for being the first to try. You're in the lead !

No, because we only count the zeros in a perfect run.

It was a nice day for sure. I know I will never end in first so I at least can GO first! 😂

I called out @JohnnyRingo and went over to his place to give this a try since this evenings weather was the best chance we will have. I will say I underestimated this challenge it's a lot harder then I expected. But this was a blast fellas look forward to the next one!

His 50 yard bench isn't the best set up. But now we have an excuse to build a new 50 yard bench.

The setup
Rifle: Bergara B14 Carbon in a Grayboe ridgeback stock, factory trigger, Vortex Venom 5-25×56, Dead Air Mask HD suppressor, and Harris Bipod.

Ammo: ELEY Match 1022-04206
1068

Another crappy weekend for any kind of Rimfire fun. Just picked up (with help from @Smok3y) a new to me CZ 457 with Lilja barrel in a KRG with timney trigger and my Viper on top and would like to try it out.
Was thinking of maybe changing targets each month but with this weather I am afraid we wouldn’t get many attempts.
I have tabled that thought for now but we might do different targets each month for June, July, Aug and September depending on feedback from you all.

Very nice. That should be a competitive rig for you.

Can’t wait to see it. My CZ Liljas were very good.

Waiting for rings to mount my scope on my new CZ too. Finally get back into this with you guys with a 22lr instead of my pellet rifles.

Got a chance to run out to try a few rounds on my new to mer rifle. A CZ 457 with Lilja barrel in a KRG with timney trigger and my Viper glass on top.
Fouled up the barrel with some CCI Standard while also seeing where the scope was aimed at. The group on the top right of the attached pic was me aiming at the top left target. The two shots in between those two were adjusting scope and then 10 rounds at the left target. Bottom left was 5 shots, one I pulled.
right bottom was with SK standard, 10 rounds but this was after I shot two targets with CCI ST.
I was very pleased with my results especially since I have not ammo tested yet to see what it prefers.

With CCI standard I matched my top score of 180 and with SK standard I beat it by 40. so close to a perfect score but I just couldn’t give it to myself.
beautiful day out though!

16814013961344169328913258008291.jpgMy 2nd attempt at this Clay target. I scored it a 260. I was thinking that you shot a different target shooting at the zeros for a tie breaker. I was aiming at the centers but if I was to count the zeros I think I would have a score of 267.
I hadn't read all the new comments ( possible changes) until I got home.
I will try this target again if I get the chance.
ps target is black & white because I ran out of Magellan.

Nice work. Model 52 seems to be liking the SK. Good shooting.

I agree it does seem to like it. I am still trying out different ammo. I have shot some really good groups with this ammo but I have also shot some with Lapua CX, Norma Match and CCI green tag. Can't find the SK Long Range in stock now.

Great shooting but I believe your one shot on the 40 is outside the center ring so would not count. Score would then be a 220. What does everyone think?
Here are the rules that were put forth for scoring: “Shoot the center ring for score. Outside center ring no score. On the center ring good score. Total 260 possible points. Tie breaker shoot the zeros (10 possible scores)”.

Here is a close up of what I believe is the Clay in question. It is in the 11 o'clock position of the bottom 5 point clay.
What is everyones opinion?
