Beef bacon at Walmart ,, what this ?

beef bacon is a variation of regular bacon made from beef rather than pork. Pork bacon is generally made from sliced pork belly. Like traditional bacon, beef bacon can also be made from the beef belly. However, it can also be made from the brisket or round for leaner options.
Yeah,, but have you had it ? I mean its gotta be different texture or taste don't you think ?

Salted smoked beef. Can't be bad even if it's not bacon.

Edit to add...Devanco foods is a Chicago area business. It's across the street from my dad's house. Small world.

Pork bacon is bacon. Turkey and beef bacon are appropriate substitutes for it in certain circumstances (like when the relatives who don’t eat pork for religious reasons visit), but it is merry “bacon”.

For someone that can’t eat pork(especially bacon) this is awesome! I get really bad migraines. The last time I ate bacon(7 years ago), I had a migraine for 4 days. I couldn’t get out of bed or a dark room for 4 days. It’s not fun. I used to love bacon. My wife still eats it, in front of me. That little heifer! Turkey bacon is disgusting. But this might be an option. Looks like I’ll be making a Walmart run today!

I'll try it!

Bacon doesn't get all it's wonderful flavor because of where it comes from, per se...it gets all its wonderful flavor because of its high fat content, which both absorbs what's used to cure the bacon PLUS the Maillard Reaction the fat undergoes when cooked.

I imagine beef bacon would be similarly delicious due to its own high fat content.

Other bacon substitutes don't come near what traditional pork bacon has in flavor because it has little, if any, natural fat content at all. Like turkey bacon, for example.

As for a high salt content...pork bacon can have that problem, as well. If you want to lower the salt content, try similar methods you might use to do so with country ham before cooking it.

The MIL gets them as well, she calls them optical migraine's and claims its from eating foods that contain nitrates.

Beef bacon is pretty good. I don’t eat pork so I have no idea how it compares. Salty fried beef, pretty sure anyone that likes meat would like it.

Well...salt IS the primary beef seasoning of choice, you know!

I get ocular migraines, which have the aura and vision loss, but do not have any pain like a regular migraine. I have had the regular migraines where you feel like you are dying for a couple of days, and any light or sound makes your head feel like it will explode.

I don't know what it (OPs) is. Blasphemy comes to mind.

I've come to really like the Food Lion extra thick hickory smoked bacon.

My son in law visited and now wants me to bring him a pack whenever I go to PA.

Just so everybody knows the place that's making this stuff specializes in making Gyros and Italian Beef. I bet they know how to make other well seasoned tasty meat too. I'll give it a shot when I can get past a Walmart.

By the way...I looked for some at the Walmart in Mt. Pleasant, SC (I'm down here for engineering support for about 6 weeks). I didn't see any.

Which doesn't necessarily mean much. I've been known to miss just about anything that doesn't have teeth and isn't actively gnawing on my leg whenever I'm looking for something.

Are there Walmarts that do and don't carry this?
