BEST BURGER............?

I seldom eat burgers anymore since I have to maintain my Chuck Norris physique.

Back in the old timey times though when we would take the kidlets to murder beach we'd invariably end up at the Nascar Cafe and I really enjoyed what I think they called the "Turn Four Burger". It was the one with pimento cheese on it. Usually sitting under Donny Allison's white Purolator Murcury. I'm not much of a Nascar fan but the kids loved it. Cool memories. And a good burger. :)

If you're coming through lenoir on 321 look for small place called carolina burgers .
Excellent burgers..

Never been, never heard of it. But I did buy some powder and ammo from a forum member in the adjoining parking lot. Next time we'll be sure to include lunch in the deal.

.
They have been there since day one when that shopping center was built. They pack them in in their bar. Lots of "regulars". I just go there to eat and everything I've had has always been good.

Emma Keys is about the best in Greensboro in my opinion. Hops is ok.
Johnsons in Siler is pretty good.
Carolina Restaurant at the Siler City Stockyards has a decent burger.

I like to think of myself as somewhat of a burger connoisseur. One of the best burgers I’ve had in Charlotte was at Superica, a Mexican/Tex-Mex place. Surprised me, too. But it was excellent, and well worth the trip. That and the bacon wrapped scallops.

If it's still there after all this covid nonsense the Brick and Mortar Grill in Angier has excellent burgers.

For chains it's hard to beat Cook Out and Hwy 55.

The Cookout in Winston Salem sucks!

But, I guess that is a theme with various chain style restaurants around the state and the country.

Out of all of the burgers I’ve had in my life, one that I had more than 30 years ago was at a Mom & Pops drive-in restaurant that was also a fly-in restaurant at a grass strip near the Madison/Mayodan area. They had the best burgers and iced-tea of any of place.

@jfanatic
My wife and I stared hitting these places,
My favorite so far was Fork and cork in Wilmington

my least favorite was More cow bell I. Charlotte, as they messed up my order and the burger resembled and tasted like a boxed bubba burger.

Had one last week at HWY55 in Hillsborough last week. Pretty tasty! I never mind grabbing one after chatting with Anderson at Liberty Guns!

For a chain restaurant, HWY55 does have really good burgers.
At least the one in Mebane does, which is the only one I’ve tried.
And yes, I dont get out much.

I’ve alway been a hamburger lover. I’ve only eaten a couple steaks in my life. These thread really excites me. I’m a consumer of fast food burgers. My favorite are, in no particular order are
Wendy’s triple
Most of Hardee’s big burgers
Culver’s
Andy’s/ HWY 55

Tipsy's in HP has my vote
I know a few years ago everyone was going nuts for Hops, but I never got into it/got the hype
Another notable place would be Nicks in Welcome

Daddy Bob’s in the Carlie C’s shopping center in Angier. Hand made daily. Worth the small wait. Currently take out only but picnic tables out front .

A split decision here.....Annie Nannie's, 2 miles way and Rockafellas in Windy Hill Beach...20 miles away.

ETA: @Stick Man , what say you 'bout Rockafellas?????

Culver’s is a good fast food burger. They also have an online survey you can take with a code on the receipt and get free ice cream that is great.

Pineville Tavern burger is fantastic but geographically impractical for me.

If anyone gets into Black Mountain, Foothills might be the best burger in the planet. Local fresh burger. The tallow fries are worth the trip also.

its our go to out here, kids meals come with ice cream for the kids. no other places offer that. burgers are good too, for when im too lazy to make them on the blackstone

"The"
There are three or four
University by Lowes Hardware? On Peters Creek by Modern Toyota? On Hanes Mall Blvd by the Walmart?

It's long gone, but there was a spot called Leonards in Thomasville, @DCGallim might/should remember it. I think they had the best burgers Ive ever had. Used to go every Saturday for lunch. Leonards closed up, changed names, still great burgers. Now it's a vacant location with no burgers.

I was actually talking about that place the other day. My grandparents hardware store was right down the street so we ate there a lot.

As a kid, used to go to Great Skate in the mornings, play roller hockey, and then lunch at Leonards. A great start to a weekend!
They sold the special sauce, we bought it, never tasted as good.

This thread won’t be easy on my wallet. Lots of burger places on my list to try out now.

My entries:
Winstons Grille - Raleigh
Big Burger Spot - Greensboro

In our county this is my wife's and I favorite burger place. We get the John Boy and Billy bacon cheeseburger. I give her my onion ring.

You can get a burger at Merritt’s Store in chapel hill, but they are known for their huge BLT sammiches. @Sheepdog120 has probably had a few

Hops Burger Bar in Greensboro
Al's Burger Shack in Chapel Hill (though it is full of liberals)
Blackbeard's Triple play in New Bern
Toucan Grill in Oriental

and an honorable mention to Breadmen's in Chapel Hill (for diner style burgers)

With the exception of the Toucan all of the above advertise that they use fresh burger ground daily which seems to make a difference.

In addition to the above I have had really good burgers in Winston at Foothills Brewing but that may be just due to the excellent draft beer that I had with them.

This is one of my favorites at Bad Daddy’s. Just have them make it as a burger instead of chicken. The poblano Mayo is so good.

I tried this yesterday!

Pretty darn good.

That said, the deviled eggs were the star of my meal!!

From a food truck in Huntersville on Sam Fir Blvd at Cashions service station.

Surprised What A Burger has not been mentioned.

I think a great burger should come on a great roll, not just a bun, hard to find in NC, but I will suggest the Saucer burger at the Flying Saucer Draft Emporium in CLT with a side of German potato salad and a beer.

This place took lots of my money while I was in school.

Good food!

Another vote for Nick’s in Welcome. I used to work less than a mile away so we went about once a week.

Hops was good the first couple times but I’m over it. There is Pints & Bites right next door and I think they had better burger.

I had a Pimento Bacon Cheeseburger at Sweet Ol Bill’s in High Point last week and was great!

One more is Kickback Jacks(HP). They actually get their meat from Schuler’s in Thomasville.

no favorites, but the Hwy 55 burgers are good. 5 Guys is alright but too expensive i.m.o. I really do not care for the steak house type burgers for some reason.

Jeff and Lisa’s Brickhouse Grill in Sanford. Their Brickhouse Burger is excellent.
Ok, I'm trying that on Friday. I was going to go to Salterpath for a Shrimp burger at the Big Oak but I don't think our contractor is going to be done with the master bath and don't want to be gone all day.

McGregor Draft House in Cary has a decent burger. Not the best but very decent.
