BEST BURGER............?

Closed now, Wimpy's in Durham. It was featured on some show on Food Network a while back.

There was a little ma and pa place in between Greenville and Ayden. $4 for a big ass burger with everything.

My admin used to grab Wimpys for the team (out of MY pocket!) once a week... was sad to see ‘em go!

There is a restaurant across from the mall in Durham known for Bison steaks that has a very good Bison burger with a very good homemade sauce. Comes served on a pretzel bun open faced with condiments such as lettuce, tomato, etc on the side to add. Since you’re in Durham you may have been there. Loved the flavor of the lean meat.

CowFish in Raleigh...

My wife loves sushi. I hate sushi...

But, at CowFish, she can get great sushi and I can get a cheeseburger in the shape of sushi.

This is their Cheeseburgushi... They take burger, bacon, and cheese and wrap it in shoe string potatoes, wrap it into the shape of sushi, and then deep fry the whole thing. Then, they slice it and dribble ketchup, mustard, tomato, and pickles on top.

It's amazing!

I took some of my docs there one day for lunch, one of them, she was Miss hoyty toity, she was funny, in between being appalled and amused, but she loved every bite. The lady is 5'2" and 100 lb but she devoured the garbage burger.

I really miss Wimpy's Grill Larry ground his own burger meat and added some fat to it. Made his own chili and slaw . Best Carolina style I ever had . Larry and wife Brenda both retired and new owner didn't last two months. It was a shame to see Wimpy's go . I ate there almost every week, sometimes 2 or 3 days for over 30 years. .

I like a good burger like the next guy & y'all can boo & hiss all you want, one of the best burgers I've ever had was from a Sonic in Colorado. They had a Hatch green chili bacon cheeseburger. F-ing incredible.

Tyler's in DPAC used to have a burger with guac, salsa & pepper jack cheese that was heavenly. Side of their garlic fries & a nice Porter & I was GTG.

Soft cook bacon. Finely chop it and add a table spoon to 80% burger meat. Dice fresh jalapeño peppers and press a tea spoon to the exterior of the patty and grill to medium well. Put pimento cheese on a pretzel bun with French’s Crispy Fried Onions or red onions. Very tastee.

Jimmy Vs smack in the middle of downtown Raleigh. Mrs Fingers and I stay at the hotel there whenever we take in a concert at the Red Hat. Eat a Jimmy Vs burger and walk to our seats. Weather permitting it makes for a great night every time. I'm usually a greasy spoon flat top grill burger guy. But their burger is ridiculously good.

Wow, I’m betting that tightened her britches a little, lol.
She look like a snake after eating a chipmunk when she finished it did she?

Ok, I'm trying that on Friday. I was going to go to Salterpath for a Shrimp burger at the Big Oak but I don't think our contractor is going to be done with the master bath and don't want to be gone all day.

McGregor Draft House in Cary has a decent burger. Not the best but very decent.
Enjoy!

I lived 2 miles from an In n' Out for 18 years. Would kill for one right now. But about 8 years The Habit Burger grill opened up in Murrieta and I actually preferred that ine over In n out. I know that there is one in Fayetteville but I don't want to die so I haven't been.

I lived in San Diego for 10 years. I thought In N Out was pretty good, but I didn't think it was amazing.

One day, I ate In N Out for dinner and went to bed. I woke up with the worst food poisoning of my life. I had diarrhea and vomiting non stop for 24 hours. Finally, my wife took me to the clinic on base and they put two IV bags of fluid into me.

Ever since then, I have been unable to eat a "Double Double Animal Style"...

Daaaang that sucks man. I don't think I would go back to a place after something like that happened either. My worst experience was a hair in my fries.

Jeff and Lisa Brickhouse was very good. Great service, really good burger, onion rings were good. Slaw was ok. I will dine there again, we are talking about next Friday and try the fish special. I'd have done it today but wanted to try the burger.

For just a plain old burger it used to be Chargrill on Hillsborough St in Raleigh, still good but not as good as it used to be.

There also was a place call BrewMaster's downtown that had a burger called the Hangover.
Fresh ground beef, two kinds of cheese, bloody mary aeoli, lettuce, tomato, avocado, annnnnddddd spicy maple syrup candied bacon. The had an appetizer called pint o bacon, just a pint glass full of candied bacon.

Buddy of mine had a trailer across the street as well. Spent a lot of time down there around the same era. We have probably bumped into each other in the past.

Made our first trip to Johnny Roger’s over the weekend. I chose this one:

Anyone know a good burger place near Asheboro?
Johnson’s and Carolina stock yards restaurant in Siler City, both right off of hwy 64. Johnson’s serves until they are out of meat, and stock yards is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday I believe.

Well..... I had it. It was good. My wife and I did takeout from the Raleigh location.

We are now on day three (recovery) from the most violent and painful cases of food poisoning we’ve ever experienced. Brutal. Considered hospitalization to get IVs more than once.

I’m pretty confident we won’t go back. But it did taste good.
Glad it was @Me. and not me.

  • Haha
Reactions: Me.
El's is good. Although I always get the shrimp burger or oyster burger. Morehead burger company has probably the best hamburger I've had. If you wanna find a hidden secret. Visit Seaside on Harkers Island. You'll thank me for their seafood. If you're lucky enough to catch their seafood buffet then you'll REALLY thank me. Those downeast gals know their shit about cooking some seafood son.
Only short term visits though. The county is closed to new residents 😁

Hell yes to the stock yard!

I'm a country boy. I grew up on a farm in Alabama, hunting and fishing, slaughtered cows, slaughtered hogs, etc...

When I moved here, everybody told me to go get a burger from the stock yard in Siler city.

One Friday, around noon, I took my family there. I was so excited. I'd been raised in stock yards and I wanted my wife and kids to walk the cat walks and look at the cattle and goats...

I told them, on the way there, that we were going to look at the animals and eat these famous burgers for lunch!

I'm telling y'all... I don't know if it was the heat outside or what, but we walked into that restaurant and the smell of cow shot was so strong, I couldn't eat. I just totally lost my appetite. We ended up leaving.

Been here for 4 years and I still haven't had one of those burgers...

Maybe I should get one to go and eat it in my truck in the parking lot. Haha.

That’s how you know it’s fresh!

Has anyone tried a Culvers butter burger? Heard 'em advertised on the radio this week, so may drive down to Apex and give 'em a try.
