You’re stretching and your analogy sucks too. There is really no such thing as consensual in a relationship where you have no choice but to consent. Jefferson has children with Sally Hemmings. Are you saying she could have said no and it would not have happened?

Btw, these two things are not even in the same are code in relation to each other.

You need to calibrate your sarcasm meter. As for Sally Hemmings, how do you know she didn't proposition Jefferson first? Preposterous? Maybe, but you can't prove me wrong no more than you can prove yourself right. And that's the point I was trying to make way back when someone called Jefferson a rapist. Neither BlackGun or any of us were there 240 years ago. Dems are doing the same thing now,.... convicting someone of something when they weren't there and don't have all the facts.

I say bullshit. As long as the GOP keeps letting this shit happens and doesn't stand up to what is essentially bullying, then this crap will keep happening.

They need to get on the offensive. As soon as these allegations were brought up and demands made, they should have turned the narrative to Keith Ellisons accusers. They should have pushed to get them to testify in front of Congress too.

It's even weirder than that. I looked this up a few weeks back on a whim.

Sally Hemmings was his wife's half sister. Way I read it, it was along the lines of "bastards" in medieval times. The family(medieval and in this case the wife) would not acknowledge they were siblings, but gave them "lady in waiting" status like they did in medieval times, so her status was very unique.

Then, a grieving husband becomes attached to his sorta sister in law, who no doubt looked a lot like his dead wife.

Reading up on Jeffersons written views on slavery, and his actions, is a study in contradictions and man's ability to compromise himself. Really interesting character study.

No matter if these allegations are not proven ... Kavanaugh is so screwed now his political career will never recover because they will never be disproven. I now seriously doubt all Reps in the Senate will vote to confirm (likely Collins and at least one more) ... we know no Dems will and no Independents (King or Sanders) so Kavanaugh does not have the votes BUT he needs to fight this or he’ll likely be losing his US Court of Appeals appointment and never recover his reputation. As bad as it sounds he needs this matterto go farther than the Judicial Committee hearings or he’s SOL. Now as to how that happens and what it means to his SCOTUS nomination ... I have no clue how he, Trump, the Reps, etc will play this out but right now as much as it pains me to say the Dems won this round and Trump needs to fire back quick. I send Amy Barrett in ASAFP and call in some favors to comb thru another candidate’s past back to the nursery when he/she was born to have in the wings.

No. But the issue as I see it is that this 4th allegation has no less than 2 witnesses. Witnesses corroborate, nominations sink quickly.

Or even better, should we hold them to account for the lowest moral moment of their life? Excluding the more heinous crimes, I'm telling you, no one lives like that other than maybe those that were affected. The rest of us live by a moral bank account. Good behavior gets you credit, poor behavior gets you debits. If you have more credits than debits you are generally seen as a good person. Only in politics are people held to their lowest moral denominator.

And in this particular case, if the 2 accounts are true I still don't care. Unless you can find adult issues with him, I'm not going to care.
