  • The forecast for Saturday is amazing.
  • There is no rain predicted between now and then.
  • The trails at the WWC are open.
It's like a sign from God. If you're going a little stir-crazy from being at home then IT IS TIME TO RIDE.

And as always, I may be organizing the ride but won't be leading it. I'm usually so far behind the group that I'm technically in a different county.

So anyway, who's interested?

When: Saturday April 18 at 10:00am
Where: US National Whitewater Center
Why: BECAUSE

Is the restaurant there open during this mess?

I know I saw somebody mention people picnicking in the parking lot in some thread in the last week or two.

I don't know if there is one but some guys should do this sort of thing on the motor powered type on backroads to some near place through deserted small state roads...I say near as my butt hasn't gotten used to anything further than about 1-1.5hrs, lol.

My favorite memory of the US WhiteWater center was getting on a rented bike after not having ridden in years, heading off on a trail only to hit a stump and go head over handlebars. Best thing about it was the ninja like tumble I did and landed without getting hurt. Worst thing about it was I was alone and no one saw the awesomeness.

it's great to see other mountain bikers here! I'm itching to ride but can't make it out there this saturday, damn!

Have fun guys and post some pics!

Are any of the trails out that way closed ?

Trails are open, its the parking lot that got closed,

except for WWC. Parking lots are open, trails are a go. Even have guard shack/lot pass folks on duty

That's great I live in the middle of the state, nearest trails to me are San Lee and that along with surrounding areas are not open
It seems to vary by county, and for state & national parks. Riding a trail is still following the spirit of the Gov’s order. 500ppl hiking a common trail like Crowder Mtn, not so much, and I’ve heard that’s why so many parks have closed (partially or completely).

One of my friends who joined us on the first ride last year will be joining tomorrow.

Any specific meeting spot? Anyone itching to ride a specific trail(s)?

Another amazing day! This is definitely becoming habit-forming. :D I am monumentally sad that Karen and I had to leave early, but family called. We'll make up for it next time.

Mike, as always, thanks for doing a great job leading. We are already itching to do it again.

Hannibal, I'm very sorry we missed you. It wasn't for lack of trying. We even rode around the parking lot shouting "Hannibal! Hannibal!". People were looking at us like we were crazy - and guilty as charged I guess.

Thought @Jerzsubbie would’ve had a baby seat on the back of his by now. :D

It was a good ride. The rain made for some great dirt today. Ended up just short of 11 miles.
Gonna hit up Hickory City Park tomorrow

Yall post this video from the ride today?

Heard lots of good things about that rafting park. My brother is not far so we bought his stepson a season pass for this year as he has enjoyed it in the past.

Saturday 4/25 is looking like a good day for VI. If anyone is interested. :D

Adventure out a bit and visit Hickory City Park.
Awesome manicured trails. About 7-8 miles total, but an absolute blast to ride. Nothing difficult unless you want it to be

Looks like its off 321 a little N of I-40.
It’s just over an hour drive for me but I’ve never been there, reviews online are few and far between, but what I did find says that it was completely re-done a couple years ago and is now a fun trail with great flow at just over 8mi with nothing too difficult.

I’m down.

It has become my absolute favorite for a local trail

Monday 7:55pm: I check the forecast; Saturday is sunny.
Monday 7:58pm: I post that ^^^^^.
Monday 8:03pm: I refresh the forecast and it says thunderstorms Saturday.

The weather geeks win again. :(

We are definitely up for going to Hickory either Saturday or Sunday, depending on weather. If both days look good our preference would be Saturday. I'll watch the forecast and post a thread in a day or two, unless someone beats me to it.

Aww what a cute little bugger! Do you know who the father is? Just kidding!

Current forecast has Hickory getting a total of 1.2 inches of rain between now and Saturday. Mike, do you think the trails will still be open on Sunday? If so, let's plan on doing this.

(Side note: KK and I are planning on going to the Whitewater Center Saturday morning (if it's open) and getting some miles in, just in case we get rained out on Sunday.)
