Two vehicles driving a combined 25,000 miles per year averaging 22mpg per vehicle, and the price goes up from $2.50 to $3.50 a gallon comes out to about $1,100 a year, or $21.15 a week.

Somebody check my maf.

Filled up all of our cans, my truck and the wife's car yesterday, just a shade over $123.
It was time for the first summer fill-up anyway, but that 2.79/gal stung a little.

Stabil is cheap insurance. Good gas cans are not cheap, but they're worth it.
These work:

regarding rotation notation:
i write the date on the gas can with a Sharpie.
then mark through it when rotated, and write the new date.
time to get a new can when there is no more room to write.

One thing I haven’t considered when rotating gas is I’m dumping 10 gallons in a 36 gallon truck tank that usually already has 10 - 20 gallons of fresh gas in it. I wonder how well straight, 6 month old untreated no-eth 89 with no stabilizer will run a Honda generator, which is why I keep the gas.

Up till now spare gas for the vehicles is sort of ancillary to the generator.

Shouldn’t have any issues.

I’ve had non-eth, untreated gasoline that sat in a can from October to April, put it in my riding mower and it ran just fine.

I am still using last summers gas in my rider. Have about 3 gallons left. I have always used Stabil

Ha! Those NATO cans are my favorite. But, they can't be imported or sold as gas cans because of all the regulations. So, they're "water" cans. Same thing with spout replacements for regular cans. I showed my wife that "gas" was not mentioned anywhere on the package, just "commonly used liquids".

My red Wavian Jerry Can that I just bought has Gasoline written right on it.

One here and thankfully we found the offending computer a few hours after it started. A quick restore from abackup and we were good. Had it been a friday afternoon and left to run over the weekend...ugh.

The ones I was involved in were big. First was several thousand servers..thankfully my involvement wasnt more than a few days as I was acting as a local resource, but it was bad. I remember when they got Active Directory up with MSFT help, and it was like, oh man! Finally getting somewhere! A lot was learned with it though, whuch was helpful for the next..

Second was few months later, I think was only a few hundred servers, isolated to a single datacenter as they severed the WAN link early on.

I was on a webex watching the main backup server getting encrypted while on another conference call with exec leadership explaining what was needed to get our shit back online. A 24hr webex later we had restores running amd got everything back that we were asked of.

Already several stations at the coast out of gas and the price went up 12 cents from this morning 🤦‍♂️

I live 8 miles from work so no biggie however my wife drives 100 miles a day round trip to/from work.Hits the budget when it gets stupid. We can afford it but it pisses me off.I sold my explorer a few months back and the only bad thing was it was a nice gasoline storage container.

My wife has about a 7mi round trip between work and my youngest school/after-school thankfully.

I, on the other hand have a territory that covers approx 3,600sq miles not including any trips to either of my warehouses. Glad I'm in a company car but with the panic buying it will be tough to find fuel. Guess I'll try to keep it close to home this week.

Looks like the GDP (generally dumb public) has finally caught wind of the pipeline news. This is in Weaverville, NC.

You should put on your Nigerian Prince outfit and walk up and down the line collecting bank account numbers so you can "share with them some of your great fortune to help in this difficult time".

Well folks, we are all screwed as far as gasoline, Resident Biden announced that the Dept. of Energy is working to help get the pipeline online.

As well as the fbi investigating the cyber attack 😂

Self fulfilling prophecy. This happened in the gas crisis of the early ’70’s. The average joe drives around with a 1/4 tank of gas. You announce a gas shortage, even if there isn’t one, everybody goes to fill up, instant gas shortage.

I'll be over near you in the morning to look at some jobs. I can bring you a jug if you're desperate 🤣

Im sure the problem is only slightly exasperated by shutting off the tap.

I hear this logic from my boss too but when the tanks are empty we stop working.

I'm good, full tank here, knew it was coming so topped off everyday before going home. Today my closest station was out of everything except diesel so I knew it would really get bad once folks got off work.

Just went and got gas. No lines, plenty of premium, meh. 🤷‍♂️

Price might been higher than usual, but I don't play enough attention to notice.

Got off work at 5:45. Planned on going to Duck Thru in Pinetops to fill up my car and come back with my gas cans for my mowers to fill them up with non-ethanol. 15 or so cars waiting to get to the pumps in podunk Pinetops. Before I left a coworker mentioned her husband was coming home from Wilson and every gas station he passed were packed with cars. Another one said a couple of stations in Tarboro were already sold out of them mid to high grade gas. My oldest brother drives for Food Lion. Coworker told him a lot of places in Fayetteville were selling out. I went to Macclesfield and got all the gas I needed. Six cars there including ours. Lots of people hurrying up to buy gas now in Edgecombe County. My only regret is not being able to fill my gas cans up with non-ethanol, but were good for a while.

As of 4 PM TODAY all 5 gas stations in my small town have bags on the pumps and the other 2 down the road had lines out to the highway.

Glad I filled up all the vehicles and 30gal worth of cans when this thread started

Dang! Guess the panic has set on. Hopefully this just lasts the week.

Like the run on toilet paper. I’m pretty sure the shelves didn’t run dry because the Food Lion trucks stopped rolling.

On the way back from getting gas I was talking to my brother on the phone (driver for Food Lion). He said if I needed groceries to go ahead and start buying now. Everybody is having trouble finding help and the fast food places are luring some grocery store employees with higher pay which will lead to shortages on the grocery side (nobody to work...or deliver based on the CDL license thread). This could be a big nothing. Just passing along what he recommended. @chiefjason are you seeing anything on your side of things?

When I worked at Sears Auto Center in the 70’s if someone brought their car in and left it for us to “check their belts” they could also request a fill up. Voila’, head of the line! As employees we could park our cars at the pumps at closing, and come in before opening to fill up. I’d then take my ’63 Rambler home, park it, and siphon out gas for my motor-sickle

Perhaps saving what is in the storage tanks for the next price jump?
