This morning i got a courtesy call from a studio electronics company to let me know that the "overnight" order "i" placed on their website late last night wasn't going to be delivered today and saturday delivery wasn't an option.
I'm sorry, what? What order?
Turns out my name, my phone number, my credit card, MY ADDRESS were linked to somebody else's email account and a $540 order was placed, to be delivered to my house.
I said "great, so somebody is watching my house and is looking for packages?" and the sales guy said "maybe they were just going to have fedex hold them or deliver them somewhere else since they would have got the tracking info at their own email address..." before they cancelled the order for me.
So I checked my credit card and there was a second mysterious order for $455 from a music shop in texas - They also said it was being shipped to my house, but they detected it as fraud and had already cancelled it.
I called my credit card company and told them that my card was compromised. Those were the only 2 charges, totalling $995... Not enough to flag the standard alerts... i guess. But I've had text alerts for smaller charges before.
Not long after, the doorbell camera detected motion and I was right at the door with a gun in hand before anybody made it to the porch. Turns out it was just my fedex delivery for a few 1000lumen rifle lights.
I think I got it covered, but we'll see. Wifey and I will both have guns at the ready (as usual). suppressed 300 pistol has a painful new strobe light on it. Thinking of seeing if the county PD wants to pass by now and again.
I threw a big empty cardboard box out on the porch (office chair I had delivered a couple days ago).
