Thanks for posting for Rob Co. Some of us living here are falling way short of fulfilling our deer herd thinning obligations. :D

Nice! I love my 308 for deer. Never had one run. I've got 5 mounts from that 308 with the 168 bergers. I've used my ar a few times and had the same results. Used 62 grain Barnes ttsx and I have to say they are nasty.

Others will look good next year but those ole boys are staying a step ahead of me. 3rd Deer this year using the wife’s AR. I’m thinking 1 more small doe and then I’m not gonna have anymore room in the freezer. I’ve definitely gotten more than my fair share this year and am very thankful for it.

My youngins are on a roll. Tonight my youngest killed this 7 ptr coming to a grunt call. Shot it around last light at 5:40PM with a Savage Axis in .243, but since we didnt find blood and just white hair we took his H&R .410 with #4 buck. Found him around 8:45PM.
Wasnt a great shot but he hit the back leg and he only made it around 50yds into woods.

Broke in a newish 300 BLK build this morning. This guy was cruising the creek bottom after a doe and stepped right out in front of me at 35 yds while I was walking back to the truck. Quick sight picture and trigger squeeze and he was on the ground. 110 grain Tac-TX bullet did the job. DRT in his tracks.

On a side note having a teenager along sure was convenient.

Shot this ugly 5 pointer this morning with the 6.8. His left main beam had been broken off at the G2. This one was about 160 yds. I pulled a little and hit him right in front of the shoulders through the chest.

Still not seeing any doe chasing yet in Rowan Co.

Just recovered a nice healthy doe, she went about 30 feet into a patch of briars.

Remington 700 in .243

We must have pix man.

It was a good morning for deer hunting. Too bad I couldn't get out of bed except to go to work :/

But, me and my deerslayer son saw a nice coyote crossing the road on the way to his school. Had to fight the urge to take out the G19 and take a shot at it :D

I saw a small buck yesterday evening, no clear shot or I might would have tagged it. My girlfriend got her first one this morning. A yearling doe. She was small, and I don’t have a pic, but my girlfriends shot was true and did the job. Really proud of her.

Got a bunch. Should have a new thread for the protein processing section soon.

Nah just a calf. They helped me distract so I can move in for the kill. Kinda looks like a bear though

Old Hippie killed this one off my place opening day of rifle season. Decent wide 8 pt. Thompson Center Encore in .308. He shot a 160 class buck out of my same stand last year. Going to have to up his hunting dues (fixing all my stuff I break during the year, he is a good mechanic!)Cy Buck 2.jpg

Man I love seeing kids hunting and having success. This is the next generation and to see it makes me have hope
Yep my daughter told me she wanted to hunt so her uncle (we use his land) said she had to pass the accuracy test.. put 3 rounds into a 6" bullseye @100.

First try....

Its a heavy .308 bull barrel but since shes going to be in a built box stand the weight isn't an issue.

We keep seeing deer on the trail cam...just none in daylight... :(

7 point, about 160-165lbs. Taken with the Ruger American with 65gr SGK. High shoulder shot, down in about 40y.

ETA: Before anyone asks, I’m not high in that pic. Got up at 4am to hunt this morning with my dad, and got this buck on my land at 5:15pm. I’m exhausted. Lol

ETA again: Buck weighed in at 170

This is my first deer. After spending a day before season opening to scout around and find a spot, I knew where I wanted to be so when the season opened I arrived before sun up and waited over 6 hours before this guy happened by.

Edit to add Ruger American .308

This is my best deer ever. I was going to post in the deer contest thread but I forgot to include the rifle so it doesn’t count. Ruger American, .243, 65 yards, Chatham County.

Nice!

I bought my daughter a Marlin X7 in .243. Her first deer was a nice little 8pt a couple years back. I've taken three deer with it and fell in love with the round. I ended up buying a Ruger American in .243 last year when Wal-Mart put them on clearance for $199. I finally put a scope on it last night. Lol.

The small 8 I took a few weekends ago with my daughter's rifle.
