Dumbest thing youve heard in a gun shop

Holy hell, I just picked up something from Academy. If any of you work there sorry, but...

One clerk just bragged the whole time about his $3500 carry gun and how much 'soul' it has compared to a plastic gun. The other just went on about how Glocks are pot metal and US made Sigs are crap.

Hello,....it's not about you man. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Again...not a gun store, but this was posted on AR15 a couple hours ago. Guy is mad because they won’t honor the warranty after shooting 9mm through a .30 cal can. 🙄

Shooting a 9mms thru a 30 caliber can is dumb, bordering on just plain stupid.
With all the n e w gun owners out there, some with more money than brains, look for more of this stuff.
Some people think they are to smart to ask questions. The above must be a young person, blaming someone for not telling him something most of us take for granted as common knowledge. Kinda like not putting gorilla glue in your hair.
Unfortunately, the Darwin Awards await.

Edit: Ran that one by my wife, very little gun knowledge, her response. "That was stupid!".

That's OK.

That kind of negative review/feedback varies with it an entire explanation as to why anybody who reads it should completely dismiss it.

"I hate this place because I destroyed their product by using it in a way out wasn't designed for and they wouldn't honor their warranty for my screw up."

Yeah...the posts following it didn’t go the way I’m guessing he wanted them to.

I once worked for a fellow who had that opinion. He followed one such customer out the door, gave him $20 and told him to buy enough gas so he could get far enough away that we'd never have to see him again.

.

I was in a large gun store in a small town once looking at a 1911, and a local police officer that was always a complete choad was in the store. He kept butting into the conversation and criticizing the 1911. He kept saying that the only smart choice for a defensive sidearm was a 9mm, and that's why they carried them on duty, blah blah blah. Then he said, seriously and not jokingly, that .45 bullets were too slow in a gunfight. He said that if he was over by the register (about 25-30 feet away) and I started shooting at him, he could just sidestep the bullets. I kid you not.
Matrix!!!

So, had you done just that do you track on you could have walked up to his twitching corpse and whispered “Shot through the heart, and you’re to blame. You give LEO a bad name”?

As I was perusing and molesting various long guns 2 dudes came from the range with their bersas .380 yep they each had one
They were looking at a piston ADCOR Defense/ an ACOG and all the goodies to expensive for me.

Any way the sales guy told them they can hook a sling to the to the hole in the piston adjustable thingie this way you can MOVE IT FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER

So I informed them that was not the case
But for the stink eye from the employee

If we’re extending this to dumbest things I’ve ever read, there’s this one.

Guy is filing suit against Smith & Wesson because he was able to remove the laser-etched serial number.

Now I really want to understand what happened.

I think the post means he polished the gun so much the serial number came off, then shipped it to S&W and they kept it for 5 years before returning it to him in pieces. Did I read that right?

Was really hard to understand the full story. He apparently did polish off the serial number. I think the big issue may be he’s off his meds. 😳

Some true gems in here. I don't even know where to start. This isn't the dumbest, but two recent experiences come to mind.

1) Did an outbound long gun transfer and tried an area small town shop, one I hadn't been to before. Off duty local cop in sweat pants shows up in his cruiser and proceeds to cut everyone in line. He's picking up some custom piece for his personal hobby. He lingers after the fact and sees my AK. Asks me if it's "fully automatic." I say no. He says "are you sure about that?" and then asks to see it. I tell him no, not unless he's buying it from me. An awkward pause ensues between him and the staff, and then everything goes back to business as he shrugs and leaves.

2) Picked up a can from a larger, more "tacticool" shop with operator-looking employees and a high-end indoor range. Guy doing my background check asks what I plan to mount it on. I tell him AKs. He says they are bad host guns because you can't run steel core through a suppressor.

Dude posted on snipers hide too. Haha what an idiot.

From 27 CFR 478.92:
For firearms manufactured or imported on and after January 30, 2002, the engraving, casting, or stamping (impressing) of this information must be to a minimum depth of .003 inch.
He must have done a little more than polish if he removed that much metal.

Tried to trade in a unfired sub2000, local shop offered $100 trade value and said firearms are used once it's purchased with a heavy odor of alcohol on his breath.

I am suing Grock. They never told me not to use a die grinder to undercut my trigger guard. And now those idiots won't fix it.

This photo almost bothers me as much as that one of the guy using nail clippers to snap a tooth in half.

Should have asked if you could trade it for an unopened "used" bottle of Blanton's.

Roughly the thickness of a sheet of paper. Not much at all. Most engravings are way deeper than the minimum.

Yes I get that and it doesn't seem like much until you try and do it. I attempted just that recently using sandpaper and I had to resort to files. And this guy says he used polish? something's fishy.

ETA: I didn't try to remove a SN it was metal removal for fitting a part.

If I sold you a firearm, and told you it was new, when it had in fact been returned the day before. Would you think I told the truth or lied when I said it was brand new? Would you be upset that you paid full price in that situation?

That $3500 is going to hurt if it ever ends up in an evidence locker.

Not in a gun shop, but... Once, at a gun show, I was at a table and a guy walked up carrying an M1 Garand. He said that it had been his grandfather's "issue rifle" when he was in the Army and that his grandfather had carried it in both WW2 and Korea. I asked if he meant that his grandfather carried an M1 like it in both conflicts, and he told me no, his grandfather was issued that rifle when he joined the Army in WW2 and carried that exact rifle through both wars and brought it home with him after Korea. I didn't even try to argue.

As a professional dealer that's were you can clarify it as new, pre owed new or used to be transparent as possible. I'd pay full price on new and pre owned new but not used. In this case he didn't even open the box to look at it and there was a used sub2000 priced at $400 next to us.

Yeah I don't think dealers put much stock into ANIB when they have actual NIB on the shelf and they can replace it at dealer cost. Some discount from distributor price is the best you can hope for.
That dealer's attitude is why we all have so much fun buying selling and trading. There's a lot of room between what a dealer will pay and what your neighbor will pay.
