Edc gun belt recommendations

Wow. Revived thread...

Is the hook side Velcro worn out on yours? Mine is toast after maybe 7 years.
I had my Wilderness Instructors Belt re-velcroed a few years back. I'm guessing after about 10yrs of almost daily use. Actually, I switched between it and the 5.11 copy after about 5yrs depending which color I wanted to wear or if I need the extra stiffness of the Instructors because it was a 5-stitch.
Many people don't know the Wilderness Instructors buckle was actually rated for ropes use, not just for show, like many were. The first one I ordered was delayed because the buckles had not come back from testing yet.

Lots of folk rave about the Ciguera emissary belt being the perfect balance between comfort and rigidity for IWB every day carry.
I personally have a DOUBLE DUTY TDU® BELT from 5.11 that I picked up in store (Burlington) for less than $20.00. It's solid and not so rigid that it's uncomfortable. So far it has been excellent!

Another Kore user here. I usually wear the black tactical type belt, but I use their brown leather version as my go-to dress belt as well. I find neither uncomfortable, but the leather belts are definitely the less rigid of the two.

I've been wearing an emissary gun belt since Ciguera Gear was Alonso Defense, the belt is still going strong!

I wear either a Kore ratcheting belt or a Blue Alpha Low profile EDC belt.

I saw some comments up thread about the kore not being very durable. That’s not been my experience at all, I’ve been carrying with the same one since about 2016 and it’s still going strong.

I had to squeeze between jersey barriers at a construction site with my gut pressing into it, and it didn't even scuff through the powdercoat on the buckle that came with the tactical belt. I've been impressed. They're also still perfectly round, zero sagging or shape change.

Sorry to say, I do not do well with the FATBOY belts (no matter how much resemblance I have), so Tucker Gun Leather has treated me well.

I wear a Hank’s Gun Belt. I have the stitched, natural colored belt and like it very much. It’s built like a tank and is quite thick yet flexible.
I think it ran around $80.
It has a 100 year, transferable warranty. I’m not kidding myself thinking that I’ll make it to 152 and then break a belt, but…. I like a challenge!

I’m currently using the Kore X6. I have noticed if you use a holster with a metal clip, it can fray the nylon. You just need to make sure you properly expand the metal clip when pulling the holster off the belt to limit fraying. Has been an excellent belt, doesn’t flex or move around and love the ratcheting.

But it's transferrable! 😂

I wear a Kore 1.5 nylon for my edc and love it!

I really been wanting to get this belt and haven’t been able to “pull the trigger” yet.

All the brands mentioned are fine. Look for the underbelt for a duty belt. Typically cops, soldiers, etc wear two belts. One under belt that actually keeps their pants up, another belt over top so they can have all the gear (holster, light holder, radio, etc).

Look for that under belt as most of the 'duty' or 'edc' style ones are stronger than a plain leather belt from a clothing store.

With leather, you get what you pay for. But a good belt should last many, many years. Galco makes good stuff, but Fat Boy is the king of leather belts. If its possible, might be worth going to a store and seeing what's there. If you don't like the velcro and are shying away from leather due to the allergy, maybe a rigger's style belt is your best bet

I have a Bigfoot gun belt. Got the 18oz leather with the steel band sandwiched in the middle.

Been my daily carry belt for 6 - 7 years and still looks almost new. No sags or anything; just a slight wear along the edges.

My vote is for Kore ratcheting. They've stood up well and I really like the micro adjustment. Comes in handy based on my glutinous meal consumption.

When did Kore start making a two-piece competition belt?

These look pretty sweet. The ability to cinch down a comp belt with a ton of crap on it is kind of a game changer. There's been other efforts for this but theyve been kinda hokey, imo, and are mostly add-ons to other belts. Might try one of these although about twice the cost of most 2 piece belts.

I've got one that currently sees use in my woods piddlin. There's a set of items I like to keep on me and I tend to hang the LBV when I get to a base area for the days rummaging. This system allows me to carry more on my waist. While I know exactly squat about competition, I know I'm diggin this set up for my uses. The adjustability is key. The hook-n-loop connection is strong. There's a webbed area in front of the inner belt that ya keep centered. It allows for cinching-without-bunching of the ratchet action.
I've also got one of their one piece belts I use for EDC. That one's working out very nicely as well. No complaints. 🤠

Thanks! Maybe I'll check one out.

I've been wearing the Blue Alpha EDC belt daily for over 5 years and it easily handles my P365XL in Tulster IWB holster along with a 15rnd spare magazine. I had been using the Blue Alpha Hybrid EDC primarily for when I carried my M&P 2.0 Compact in an OWB holster and 17rnd spare magazine. Even with the COBRA buckle I didn't feel like the belt was secure/stiff enough to handle the extra weight so ordered a TRex Arms Nova belt during their BF sale.

The Nova is ~1/3 third thicker (0.250in vs 0.180in) than the Blue Alpha belts and is a bit more rigid. They are similarly priced and I prefer the easier adjustment method for the Nova.

For reference the Nova is black and the Blue Alpha is grey in the images below.

I'm in the "special sizes" range but I have two Hanks belts and I think they (while expensive) are a good buy for the quality. I noticed that this thread started in '21 but the Two Fools webpage indicated the store (business) is closed now.

I recently got a Kore-I like it also, but only wore it a few times so far.

A buddy is a huge fan of The Wilderness. I am of course familiar with them but he's a fan. He has one that's about 15 years old, and ordered a replacement. They sent one without a modification he ordered and they offered to make it right, but he liked it so much he kept it and reordered and paid for the new one he wanted.

I have a Kore, its great but kind of stiff.

I've heard great things about the Tier 1 / Harry Constantine carry belt:

On Tier 1's website, it says they go up to a 42" waist. Do you know if they plan on making these down the road for adults?

( 😆 )
