Entire staff of the Kenly Police Department resigned Wednesday afternoon

She allegedly got fired from her previous job and sued claiming they discriminated against her because she was a black female. Now, I know nothing of what transpired in that situation but it has been reported previously.

She has only been on the job a month, again not defending her but to me outside looking in, either she started cleaning house and making sweeping policy changes and they don’t like it, or she really is screwing stuff up majorly and needs to get gone

- She did something that caused her to be fired from a previous job.
- Then ran for the current .gov post.
- After a month she did something that caused these resignations.

I'm seeing a pattern here...
Sounds like a entitled liberal pushing unpopular policies?

Honestly, if they have no duty to protect, what is the point of employing them anyway? With no duty to protect, they really exist only to keep the common people in line.
As I say, people like the idea of police, but having police is very different than the idea.

The person or people that hired her need to be replaced. They knew her background and hired her anyway.
I was told by a reliable source, that she snowed the town council into thinking she was middle of the road, then came in like a wrecking ball.
She is a militant BLM supporter that dislikes cops. She had ordered them not to make any traffic stop without her prior approval.
Good on those LEO'S for walking. The townspeople can live with that bad choice.

right,

See here is the deal, the LEO's are in a job seeker market. All of them can go to other agencies with no delay. The city of Kenly has a hell of a up hill fight to hire new LEO's. This reminds me of what happened in Spring Lake a few years ago.

I haven't seen this posted yet. "officers did not want to be a part of the work environment that was created"
https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-news/entire-kenly-police-department-resigns/
good for them
we have an employee who does whatever she wants, walks off the job when she gets called out for it, and then claims racism when any of the white managers say anything about her walking out.
I'm the only one she hasn't been able to scream racism about. I'm brown enough that she just says i'm a bully for pointing out the rules that everybody has to follow. little things like "hey, don't draw cartoon faces all over your face shield when we have auditors in the building, and don't put stickers and labels with your tiktok name all over it."

Jones previously worked for Richland County, South Carolina as manager of research and was an assistant director. However, her employment ended acrimoniously when she was terminated. She sued the county claiming racial discrimination (Jones is black) after she was fired, WRAL reported.

In the lawsuit, Jones alleges “hostile” treatment by Richland County leaders and her supervisor and retaliation after reporting acts of alleged misconduct. She claims in the lawsuit that she was not compensated appropriately and was also treated disparately due to illness.

She was terminated more than seven years ago, on March 30, 2015. The lawsuit was later voluntarily dismissed, yet court records do not reveal a reason, according to the news outlet.

The emergency meeting is scheduled for tonight and will be a closed session. I wonder what they’re hiding.

More like "what are they debating," since they probably want to get rid of her now, but she has a history of suing anyone who thinks shes bad at her job.

EDIT: Beat me to it.

I know nothing about this situation. What I took from the article----- A town with a population of 1339. Does it really need a five-person force as well as all the support staff and equipment? Thats a lot of tax dollars from 1339 people. Why would not the county handle Law enforcement in that town?

Sounds like another “woke” hire by the town council has resulted in a situation going bad. Defund or Destroy the Police … seems she has started and it’s going to be a court battle with possibly multiple ones for hostile work environment or even worse if the town council fires her and she sues them for breach of contract, claim racist crap, etc (which we know she’d do) and a town of maybe 2,000 people can’t afford to fight must less pay if they were to lose. Sometimes I wonder if some people actually look for situations so they can do crap like this?

Since when does a town manager have legal authority to “approve” traffic stops? When someone runs a red light or speeds it an infraction? Is she going to tell the NCSHP not to do it also?

Maybe the Town Council needs to include, on an emergency basis, that the Town Manager must take on the duties of the people who walked. If she has told the LEOs to not make traffic stops without her 'say so' then she has shown she is responsible for that job.

Just think , when there are no police officers we are free to enforce laws and punishment ourselves.
I'll take a leaf out of the Feds book. I have investigated myself and cleared myself of all wrongdoing. Case dismissed.

“Reginald Williams said he hopes the town figures out a solution soon.

“I was like what in the world man, we can’t have a lawless town,” he said. “There’s no way on God’s green earth we can have a lawless town…”

So five people quit and it’s an emergency? Dang Reginald, you need people around to tell you do not do bad things? The handwringing speaks volumes

Stupid...

A law is still a law. Morals are still around. Knowledge of right/wrong is still known.
The town just doesn't have paid enforcers.
So, enforce laws when they are broken in your presence. If you don't want to then don't bitch about it.

yes
we just hired somebody who previously worked for a competitor. turns out some of her former coworkers already work for us and have let us know that she does that sort of thing. they're going to have to do a good job documenting all the stuff she does wrong or else we get sued.

There is no way I would want to be a police officer these days. You catch hell from both sides constantly.
And for good reason. Between bad laws and broken enforcement you'd be nuts to start to be a cop right now. The bad news is you got to be nuts to want to be a cop so that's gonna be mostly what we get.

most likely trying to find a way out of their mess without ben crump showing up in joco

simply downsize her position, the staff she was hired to supervise are no longer employed and the town is not going to rehire **wink wink* but will instead let the county take over policing duties

Time out to back up for a moment. The city council conducted a 'nationwide search' and considered 30 candidates before selecting one. What were they thinking? A town with a population of less than 1,500 cannot afford any sort of nationwide talent. The most that town can afford is a local willing to work cheap or somebody who cannot find a job elsewhere.

I suspect the city council members were playing the look-at-me virtue signaling game with their nationwide search and selection of someone who probably spewed all of the diversity and equity junk that is heard from big cities.
