Where to start???!

If I were channeling my inner child, I sure do miss the hotdogs I would get at pier houses of the Sportsman’s Pier, the Triple S Pier, and the Oceanana. I sire do miss those days / dogs. I can hear the sound of the bun steamer. ssshh sssssshhhh ssssssshhhhhh.

Now on to today, here’s a few of my favorite small town hotdog hot spots:

Cheap red hot dogs fried on a sloped griddle in lard, they’ll do them crispy if you want too.

Cash only and they won’t take your order if you walk up to the counter on your phone lol. Between about 11:30 and 1 most days there will be a line from the counter to the door. They move quickly tho.

It used to be Shell’s BBQ on Springs Road in Hickory. But alas, they are no longer there.

I felt like the thread was leaning toward Chicago, NY, or other "exotic" dogs. For a standard Carolina style diner dog, Silver Creek in Morganton is pretty dang good.

Seriously, yes. It's one of the few places I'll eat in Charlotte. They were doing Italian Beef with Giardiniera for a while. You can also tell the lady you want the hotdog how she makes it where she's from, which is really good, but I know you don't like mayonnaise.

Am I the only dummy around here? Is it some sort of food code? Some military abbreviation that Air Force guys wouldn’t use (like ACFT)?
