New Month and hopefully that will bring us better weather to shoot.

@Eric F was our last months winner and he will be picking our new target for the next two month challenge.

I know there are a bunch on Rimfire lovers/shooters reading this and I encourage you to join the fun no matter experience or expertise. This is all for fun and if we get enough participation I will maybe find a way to divide us into different divisions. Take a look at the rules below and happy shooting!

Standard CFF Monthly Rimfire Benchrest Challenge Rules
- Target size: standard 8 1/2 X 11 paper
- Target distance: 50 yards
- Any position you like
- Front rests, bipods, front/rear bags, bunny ears.... all are ok
- No full length rifle mechanical rail/sled type rests allowed
- Iron sights or any optics allowed
- All done on the honor system. Shoot it, score it, post it.
- winner chooses the target and challenge for following month
- post copy of target and pictures of your rifle setup and ammo used

Here it is. "The Alien Challenge". 7 targets, one shot per target, 50 yards. Scored as 10 for the center, 8 for ring 2, 6 for ring 3, no points if you miss. Max score 70.
Suggested tie breaker for a perfect 70. Shoot one shot each at the 4 alien finger tips on your perfect target at 50 yards. (4 shots) 1 point each for shots fully within the finger tip. No points if you break out or hit the outline. Draw a straight line at the bottom of the finger tip, since it is not completely enclosed.
If there are any questions or clarification is needed. Let me know.

Looks like a good one. Scoring seems pretty straightforward. Let’s hope we get some nice days.

Looks like a lot of fun and everyone should have a good chance. Nice find.
 
That is a great run at it. Have fun! I will be out this week when it warms up.
 
May try my 77-22 when I get back in town next weekend and see if I can do any better.
 
Was able to get out this morning. What a beautiful day. Attached are my best 2 targets. Couldn’t match @Eric F but that’s not a shock. Best I could do was a 64.

I finally got a chance to shoot the new Alien Peace target. I was shooting SK Long Range Match and I was impressed.
I had just got this ammo and the first target I tried it on at 50 yards I thought was terrific. It was really windy 10-20 mph and variable. Group size was really good.16765932909946303824591624795989.jpg

Good to hear since I have a brick heading my way. Figured I would give it a try. Price was hard to swallow but I said screw it.

Did you order from Whittens? I hear Blue Collar Reloading has the new Lapua Long Range and Super Long Range in stock. I'm afraid to see the prices.

Yes I did. Ordered yesterday and scheduled for Saturday delivery.
 
Great shooting! Lots of time left to shoot the alien and improve. The Lapua ammo is always pricey, but you do get what you pay for and it's a lot cheaper than 6.5 Creedmoor. Check out the test done by Kenny at Dessert Precision.
 
Just FYI, I checked Blue Collar, and the Lapua Long range is $16.99 a box and the Lapua Super Long range is $21.99 a box. Not horrible prices, and both are in-stock!

needless to to say head shots on squirrels are easier than killing aliens. I just hope Biden keeps shooting down those ufos b/c apparently I won’t be able to save use from them

Glad you came out and shot with us. Looks like you really only had two shots that got away from you or your score would be much better. Looks like you are shooting on your own property so that is making more than a few of us jealous. Got plenty of time to try it again.

Yes have plenty of room to shoot on and will try to better the first attempt if work and weather allow, if not will try other up-coming targets in the future
 
I printed out some targets and I am hoping to be able to go shoot them Thursday in the sunshine.
 
Very nice! I have been out of town, so hope to get back soon and try some of the new Lapua ammo. Good luck.
 
AR distractions are tough. Timing between the vibration. You did well.

I was using Norma Match ammo today. It has been shooting some pretty good groups. The wind was manageable but the shockwave from the muzzlebrakes was to much. I was going to try again hoping to get a perfect score but decided the punishment wasn't worth it.
 
Month of February is in the books and so far things are really close.
@Eric F and @#1gohunt are tied for top spot with 68.
@charliedeltajuliet is just behind at 66 and I’m on the outside looking in with a 64.

We have a whole month left with guaranteed better weather so keep throwing ammo at this space invader.
At the very least beat your own score.
 
On a side note which one of you jerks knocked me out as the leader of Uwharrie‘s shooting challenge?
I was leading with a score of 86 but someone got me by 2 points!

Anyone every use a trigger by Jard? My trigger on my Ruger American is not that bad but they have ones that go down to 8oz’s. Just wondered if anyone has tried one.

Amps 13 you are showing signs of improvement, good for you. This Alien Target is could be responsible for another ammo shortage. I had Grandparent duty today and that kept me from trying again.
