Fishing Pics ... post your most recent.

I'd like to do Johns River as well. It's just tough with only one vehicle that can haul boats. My wife shuttled my truck down to the bridge and left it for me yesterday.

I've got a couple vehicles that can carry kayaks and canoes. We should team up and make that float happen. Just gotta get our schedules to mesh.

We had a 4 day weekend at work, so I accompanied the boss to his place outside Beaufort on Adam's Creek.

Been visiting there with him over the years, long before I worked for him.

I've had a lot of fun there shrimping and fishing.

He's got a cute little pier with his 2 boats on lifts and I absolutely LOVE fishing off it in our "down time".

Never dreamed I'd catch a 300 pound billfish off the pier though!

Hi, my name is Bill. Haha

That sucked.

A little after midnight.

Two hook rig and about a 20 pound stingray.

Other hook in the ray.

Once I landed it and figured out it wasn't a skate I was trying to keep my "somewhat inebriated" wife away from the tail.

Reached down too fast with the pliers and felt a nice pop as the barb seated itself in my thumb.

Boss and his wife were already passed out back at the house. No cell service on end of his pier.

Ray would flop and it would twist in my thumb. Tried to get wife to unhook the clip and it would twist. She whipped out her knife and started sawing on the leader, until I remembered that it was metal. Holy smokes that hurt too!

Finally got the hook unclipped. I cut the line and let the ray keep the leader. Made way back to the house. Sat down took a couple shots of pain relief. Realized the long shank hook wasn't gonna come back out the skin if I tried to go forward and cut the barb. Finally found some bleed stop spray that had 4% lidocaine. Sprayed for about 4 seconds, then grabbed the pliers and it came back out the way it went in.

All told it took about 40 minutes from puncture to exit.

I'm 49 and have done a lot of fishing in those years. I guess I was due. I've seen folks hooked in much more sensitive areas with bigger hooks.

It coulda been worse, but dang that was NOT fun!

Fished 3 streams today. No fish in the first. 2 on the second, a brown and brookie. Then went up higher and picked up a few very small female brook trout. Gorgeous day on the water though.

There were a surprising number of people camping in the area so the easy spots might have gotten pressured. My plan was to bushwhack in but someone was parked where I wanted to start so went down further and found more people. Should have found a spot to walk in further.

So we went down to Carolina Beach for a friends son's batchelor party. We were incredibly lame and everyone was passed out by 10pm each night... We did have a great trip on the Fish Witch. 20+ black fin, 2 good wahoo, 1 amber jack, 1 king, some bonito, and 1 mahi. We wanted to catch a bill fish but @thrillhill caught the CFF weight limit for Bill fish for the season.... We had an epic time and only drank the city of wilminton out of booze for the weekend 😂

We ran our first trip of 24 last Saturday. We took some clients from my girlfriend’s work. They had a blast. This is the last trip on this boat for a few months the owner is having back surgery mid Feb and will have to recover for a couple months. E3E43942-D386-4979-A191-C46ECDE494DD.jpeg

I got “my” boat back today running a trip on it tomorrow if I can figure out this electrical issue before 6 am and get power to the Simrad screens and VHF. The guy who owns this boat moved to Charlotte and was going to sell it but fortunately for me it didn’t sell so we’re looking a slip and I’ll be running trips on this again this year as well as mating in the big boat. This boat feels like a bath tub compared to the 45 but this is the first guy that has said to me “here are the keys to my boat take care of it and use it like it’s yours don’t f me over on this running trips behind my back and keeping all the money and you have a free boat to use” it’s worked out great so far 🫡97E0D7F3-FE14-457A-9D2A-844601A26F1F.jpeg

Looks like it was a calm day, on that trip. Nice haul too! Black Sea Bass are excellent tasting fish.

it twas a little bumpy in the AM but laid out as the day went on. That pic was taken right outside of CB Inlet right on the beach.

7 hour bottom trip today went decent. Boat ran fine but the floor of it where it was cut out to replace the fuel tank is going to have to be cut out again and reglassed it looks like shit and is delaminating at the seem all the way around. Im just going to fix it in my backyard and if the owner likes it when it’s done he’ll pay me if not he’ll get a professional to do it. We caught a bunch black bass, all kinds of snapper and some out of season grouper. 61AD0F4E-A347-423D-8749-9143563383B9.jpeg135557EB-BF99-4DCF-98F2-F871C4A00FAC.jpeg

i am really good luck in the back of the boat. I’ll catch the numbers and you’ll get the biggies. This is a proven fact. 😬
