Well....my never kink water hose finally kinked and sprung a leak. It's about 20 years old, so I'm not complaining. Are they still of good quality or is another brand much better?

I changed from Never Kink to Zero-G. The two replacement Never Kink didn't last as long as the 1st (20 years old).
The Zero is ighter and easy to put away. My wife can pull it around.

NOTE: Not recommended for high abrasive environments. For homeowner use mine are 5+ years so far and zero 🙃 issues.

I think I traded a Never Kink for a Zero with someone on here...

Amazon links don’t render right, so I’ll just say it. My parents have a Stanley Fatmax hose, doesn’t kink, rolls up nice, I really like it and will get one next time.

I haven't been real impressed with flexilla air hoses, but we have one of their water hoses, high water pressure that fluctuates enough the hoses jump, running it over with 30T trucks, exposed to common truck shop chemicals and some less common, has lived 2 or 3 years no sign of giving up. Not too much sun though, that seems to kill most around the house.

I've got a 1 acre garden, and only 1 yard hydrant to feed it all...so I've got hoses everywhere. I've got at least 6 different brands of hoses at this point and have found that only 2 brands are worth having.

Zero G and Flexzilla. Both have sat in the yard, in the sun, for 2 full garden seasons...plus a couple months.

Zero G kinks easy, but they're super light and easy to drag. Once pressurized and kinks removed, they're pretty good.

Flexzilla is pretty heavy, and a pain to drag if you're dragging 100ft sections. Once pressurized, they kink the least of any hose I've ever used.

As @Mirac suggested above, the Zero-G hose is a very good lightweight durable hose.

I have two 100 foot Zero-G hoses that I’ve had for several years. Very easy to roll up with little to no effort. They’re much like a miniature fire hose when they’re drained of water.

A Zero G lasted us only a couple months. Do not get one if it will be in contact with concrete.
The Never Kink now kink easily and split at the link. They’re now lasting me 1-2 years & I’m dragging them across grass.
I haven’t found a descent replacement.

I’m a fan of the zero g. I have 50’ and 100’ sections. I can fit all 150’ in a 5 gallon bucket and snap the lid down. It’s light weight and easy to drag around. Haven’t had any issues with kinks. I can’t speak on abrasion resistance but for my needs they’ve been great.

There are two things which DEFINITELY do not go together in my family:

My wife and garden hoses.

She bought this INSANELY long garden hose which she then proceeded NEVER to properly roll up in our hose caddy.

Why does this matter?

Because when the hose is loose on the caddy, it gets tangled up and WON'T COME OFF THE CADDY.

Then I'M the one who has to fix it.

One. HUNDRED. Feet. Of. Hose.

I went through an entire summer of untangling that hose. The next year, I bought two shorter lengths that could be disconnected, limited it to 50 feet total, and proceeded to remove that 100 foot long tangled mess one last time.

With my knife.

In 3 to 5 foot pieces.

She was..."upset".

I didn't care because I was the one always straightening her mess up in the first place because I couldn't get out through her head how NOT to get the house tangled up.

I splurged this past summer and bought Eley hoses and hose reels and will never look back. They are god awful expensive but damn they are nice. Flexible even in the low temps we have now, never kink on me. Heavy duty. Love them.

This. After only 2-3yr, I was tired of my 2nd from the top of the line NeverKink kinking. I tried a ZeroG and now, 4yr later, that’s all I’ll buy.

My Zero G kinks far less than my NeverKinks did (same lengths) and when they do, the ZeroG is easy to unkink with a shake of the hose. As for dragging across concrete, I am careful not to drive over mine but 3 of mine are on concrete for about 6-8mo. My concrete isn’t particularly aggressive but I am cognizant of the fact that the concrete can wear away the fiber jacket of the hose. I haven’t had any issues with abrasion yet and don’t see any signs of it.

Welp, after 6 years being abused, left on the hanger in the hot sun, freezing winters left out for dead, this one started to leak behind the coupler.
Going to have to search a repair for it. The ‘hose’ is still good.
I think I have a couple three 25, a 50 and 2 hunnerts still holding on fine.

Yep.

I don't think ours is that old but it's doing the same thing.

Now, for as little as we use it, I'm not rushing out to buy another just yet.

The old, like yours, Never Kink’s were great.
The new ones don’t last 6 mo before it either kinked while pulling it and gets ground through the folded part, or the metal end just falls apart when the water is turned on. I’ve swapped out four in two years.

Does it touch concrete? My wife got one to water the garden next to the pool, the fabric and inner hose wore through in a couple weeks.
Mine get used on the concrete driveway and concrete patio, as well as the yard, but I can’t even imagine the use that would cause them to wear out that fast. My oldest ones are 4.5 years old.

Everything is a trade off I guess. Not the right product for your application.

I have a 50-footer that just started leaking in the same place. I guess that is their Achilles heel.

I have a 100 ft and a 25 ft black rubber Craftsman and then a couple of the cheap ones. the 100fter stays out by the chicken pen all year and hasn't had any issues with it. I just make sure it is unhooked if they are calling for freezing weather

I have been using the Sam’s Club Members Mark Pro hose (actually need two connected together), for years now, with zero issues….. and I use the 💩out of it. I drag it all around the yard, across and down the drive, leave it out in the sun/snow. It’s good to go!

Made in the USA!
