I looked at the classifieds over there a while back and noticed most of the threads were filled with people who were banned from here. It’s the “B” leagues……

I'll speak from experience here - yes. I mouthed off to Tim one night after he said something to me about a rude comment to a new poster. Five day slap on the bottom. Noted.
Not always the case, some of these folks come on here and are very rude early on and say very harsh things like 'suck this' or 'suck that'
But I'd say there is typically plenty of warning.

I found my last post over there, which wasn't the reason I got banned, but I was admonishing a long time member for complaining that nobody responded to his appraisal request thread that had about 12 guns listed in one post, with no pictures.

Hopefully a life member would realize the time and effort that goes into this place(which would be why they joined as a life member), and not show their Butts enough to get escorted out.

Having said that, yes. Check enough boxes by staff, and anyone can be asked to play elsewhere

I know this was said mostly in jest, but wanted to comment my experience: If you pay attention a bit, it’s pretty easy to figure it out. A few years ago I had a few times where I raged on here and went toe to toe with a few guys. Unrelated to those moments, they are now banned. But I could tell pretty quickly that my neck was on the block as well. When you get “on the list” they give warnings. They will let you know that you are on the line and leaning over and if you don’t back off it will be bye bye time.

In truth, while I still feel that most all of my interactions with members I was in the right, my methods of communication were not. One reason it now bothers me is I know that my behaviors of the past have prevented me from helping out the forum more or being more involved. I would have loved to have been a mod, but the fellas just can’t trust me, and I get it. Actions have consequences, we eat the poop sandwiches that we make.

I’m too nice to get banned, however, if I was I wouldn’t get escorted, I’d get thrown head first.

This is key. I have had whole threads either locked or deleted elsewhere without warning or explanation. In the times I reached out to mods, they were often snarky in their response. A couple times on M4C, which was disappointing because I thought they were better than that.

"Our" way is so much better, and prevents some nasty relational issues.

I wasn’t banned from there, but got my wrist slapped and chose to never return. Got a PM from a Mod I wasn’t familiar with that basically said I needed to know my role, respect those that had been there longer (or posted more, can’t remember). And the PM included a copy/paste of part of the Code of Conduct.

What was my offense? Telling people it was ok to roll your own fingerprints for NFA submissions. Of all lanes I’m comfortable staying in, that one has to be near the top of the list. Oh well. 🙄

You know, I wanted to reply to them with a similar train of thought…but just said forget it.

I’d be willing to bet there are thousands (between here and AR15) of people that would want to do the same thing. Heck, there are multiple dealers on this site that call me with questions about it. But I cut M4C out after that, plus 68Forums/C.S.C./NCGO (68F sold out to the same Canadian company around the same time the two local sites did) and just focused on AR15 and this place.
 
I got instabanned at Rooster Smoking Canadians because I'm a known agitator and curmudgeon. I convinced them I'd be a good boy and play nice and got unbanned.

Soon as they did I nuked every useful or informative thread or post I had control over before they banned me again. Haven't really been back since.

(Relating to his argument about it being an example of 1 instead of the norm) My point was I speak from my experience. But also from the experience of being a Mod in all the NFA sections of ARF for almost a decade…so even if it hasn’t happened to me, I keep my finger on the pulse of what was happening to others. I’ve put enough write-ups out there that I actually had an examiner give me a price of advice last year that came directly from a how-to I wrote. 🤣🤣

Heck, there’s an 06FFL holder on this site that stopped by here and we rolled his prints for his FFL application.

But M4C is the same place that a couple years before that a Mod took the time to send me this:

One opinion here. It's nothing I find pleasure in when a member goes off the rails and faces the ban hammer. And for the record I don't think it's a good reflection on us as staff to keep posting comments, share private information about members that needs to remain private, threaten people with the ban hammer, or otherwise "clap our hands" when the ban hammer drops. When it drops...............we should walk away from it. Leave the high-fives for someone else. I want no part of that.

I look at this site as an awesome internet hangout that happens to be a forum filled with firearm-related content I find interesting. All while enjoying the online and personal time with the best people on the planet.

I'm not willing to stand idle and allow those who have no regard for all of the efforts and work that is required to keep the lights turned on and maintain a decent level of forum decorum as @RR describes it, to destroy or undermine what we have here. We'll ban them if necessary and do it decisively.

Lastly, I certainly don't want to see a list created with screen names, offenses,, etc., etc. as @Miss Lily mentioned. No desire here to live through some of that nonsense again, so let sleeping dogs lie.

By no means am I blaming Tim for it.
I think I was just a crappier person at the time. I hope Im not a crummy, anyway.
BUt it's a team effort behind the scenes. That said, I still think what I said was funny (about a bill of sale for someone non-title trailer, he ended up being gifted a membership and then was gone weeks later).
