I was at REI the other day for a new pair of backpacking boots. Since they're running their Labor Day sale, I took a look at pretty much everything in the store, like I do - deciding how much shit I'd be willing to take from the wife for whatever I filled the bag with.
Anyways, saw these (@Jerzsubbie mentioned these already) and thought they'd be pretty handy if used inline with a bladder like the last picture. Filter as your drink, and good for 100,000 gallons. Plus, as jerzsubbie said - they screw on the regular water bottles as well. Just fill it from a source, attach the Mini and drink.
I'm only 8 miles from home if I'm at work (unless I swam across Lake Norman - then it's 6). I keep several litters in the FJ. More for events where people might turn stupid and make movement difficult (eclipse, etc).
I keep diesel fuel in my water bladder. Cuz I'm a real man. What is this water you speak of?
Strictly what I buy now. Can't beat filter longevity and price. My Katadyn hiker pro was $50 and it only lasts 250gal. Replacement filter are like the same cost as a new unit. Only benefit is pump speed imo.I was at REI the other day for a new pair of backpacking boots.
