In Virginia now

No, once a rifle, always a rifle (started life with a stock attached). A pistol can go to a rifle and back. ATF vs Thompson Center over the Contender. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Thompson-Center_Arms_Co.

Exactly. And the fact that people had a hard time understanding this and a lot of companies still don't is part of why the Beretta Neos carbine kit was a miserable failure. Beretta would NOT stand behind the idea that you could turn your pistol into a carbine AND back. Their advertising material stated that you could go one way, but would not state that you could also go the other.

That would make sense then. She built it as a pistol and optionally put the long barrel on it for the time being. So many stupid rules.

I'd hate to be a beat cop in that area, with the better armed citizens walking past them.

Those street cops have to KNOW they wouldn't stand a chance if these Patriots had to physically rise up.
That’s how it should be, all the way up to the White House, but we can talk could/would/should all day long.

In reality, I would hope that the street cops know that as long as they do their job, these patriots are, by and large, their least concern, in fact could be their safety net.

I think this massive show of support plants the seed for LE and politicians that if they decide to trample our rights, there is a large base ready to take a stand.

It makes me so sad to see my city in black on that map. Bloomberg just dumped a giant pile of money into the local election here in November to flip my district and he had to be paid back with this I guess.

And news outlets around the world are grumpy now that things are winding down without any incidents.
And you watch just how the Goobernor will take credit for it not having any incidents because he took “necessary measures” to make sure nothing happened ... you know he’s going to spin it that way since he can’t point out how gun owners there acted crazy and wreckless ... spin doctors likely are working on his speech as we type now.

Did we pull it off without incident? Is it over? Was antifa late to the party, arriving after lunch? Must have been that long line at Starbucks. :D

This was going to happen regardless of the outcome. Politicians have a knack for taking credit for things to hey had very little control over.

Yup. All 10 or so showed up after lunch with the usual Trump/Pence out chanting and spouting other communist bullshit. Goes to show, that they are a chicken shit bunch when confronted with actual people that wont take any of their guff.

Yep ... or saying “I told you so” if it went bad which I believe Northam really wanted to say here ... in truly believe he wanted some trouble more than a peaceful march so he (Doomberg, MSM, social media trolls, etc) could use that to drive even more negative narratives to justify more gun control.

I'm shocked too. Thrilled, but shocked. Although it's not completely over yet, someone could roll in around 5pm, burn the city to the ground, and we'd still make national headlines as the instigators.

Some are saying this is all smoke and mirrors to hide the real agenda.

Yes thanks to you and to cff for having a place for us to go instead of mainstream media. BUT, that said, they will pass these laws and that will be that and the 2nd will once again be narrowed and weakened.

This might not be well recieved but protesting by itself won't stop it.

Well............ it's on a .uk domain, what would you expect? Of course they found the goofiest overweight Larperators they could for the main picture.

something tells me they ARENT the most overweight folks there...

To me, they look like antifa types anyway. But, they did say they were on our side of this issue. If I saw this in real life, I'd be keeping an eye on them.
I hope someone had the forethought to provide a protection detail for the counter-protesters.

What makes them look like antifa types to you?

I'd like to know the TRUE estimate of turnout.

Most media outlets are stating around 20,000...

With all the photos/video I saw, I'd bet the number was more along the lines of 3, 4, or possibly even 5x that amount.

And that's the truth! Spouse and I were in DC countless times b/t 2009 and 2011 in crowds of up to 3/4M (of course MSM said 10K). We ended up with O'care and other insidious legislation in spite of our efforts. The tyrants are going to do what they are going to do against the people they took an oath to represent.

Maybe 20000 inside the fence that was erected around the Capitol.

Thanks, SJ14 explains the sign in post 102. I’d been wondering what that was all about.

Media Offers Thoughts And Prayers That Someone Would Start Some Violence At Gun Rights Rally
U.S.—Somber members of the press offered their thoughts and prayers that someone would start some violence at the gun rights rally in Virginia today.

Reporters expressed their grief and condolences as the violence they hyped has so far failed to materialize.

"Nobody has so much as fired a shot. This is an unbelievable tragedy," said one teary-eyed MSNBC reporter, clearly caught up in the anguish of the moment.

My wife and I along with another couple went to DC during the same time period as much as we could and watched the Obama train carry the US further into the state we are in today.

It's easy to see now what frame of mind the writers of the Constitution were in when the 1st and 2nd Amendments were penned.

I love what the Babylon Bee comes out with - so funny!

Curious how the talking heads cover this on tonight's news... its all garbage anyway, but want to see how it is spun...

Kudos to all who went.
Already spinning it "Radical right-wing militias with assault weapons and body armor swarm streets in Richmond"

Just saw the local news say the VA democrats are going to "continue pursuing gun control despite protests".
So what now?

Yes, but what came out of that? The Tea Party, and Democrats losing severely in the next election. During the next six years, the Democrats lost over a thousand seats in state legislatures and most of the Governors, and eventually, both the US House and Senate.

I expect that some Virginia D's elected outside the "safe" areas got the message today, and some of these bills will need to be weakened in order to get enough votes to get across the finish line. Remember, they only have a 1-vote majority in one house.

That’s to be expected so I find that headline pretty tame. Any gun owner will be assumed to be “right”, those who advocate gun rights are seen as radical, any scary gun is an assault rifle, and body armor is what it is.

I think the most important thing we got today was organization. My allegiances are with my principles, not a party. But like it or not, winning requires organization, and that means working through an established party. Most of the patriots who were there today probably never did anything remotely political, except vote, in their entire lives. I know most of us on here are proudly and fiercely independent, while the other side are collectivists. They are infinitely better at voting than we are.

Most pro-2A people in VA realize now that getting out to vote last November was more important than whatever it was they did that day instead of voting. If only a few more had voted, they wouldn't be in this mess. I used to be one of those guys that tried to organize conservatives to vote, and it was frustrating how most conservatives didn't see the value in making lists, volunteering, walking neighborhoods, etc.

Now VCDL and the local Republican party officials have lists of people that are energized and willing to work to turn this back. And just maybe, in two years, we'll get the votes to reverse at least some of it.

For better or worse, get Republicans back into Virginia's politics to get this trash eventually repealed

Also, let this be a wake up call to those of us in NC -- elections have consequences!!!

My son and a bunch of his friends at Liberty University hopped in a truck and drove over to Richmond from Lynchburg but they arrived too late to the party. Someone had built a guillotine, probably fake, and the cops had destroyed it.
