The medical community says that wearing masks helps slow the spread of this thing.
They say that N95 masks would be best if available and properly fitted amd worn, but that’s not an option so any covering is better than none.
Options are plentiful and can be as simple as a folded bandana worn like a stage coach robber in an old western.
They say that slowing this bug is important.
On the other side, the virus simply isn’t as deadly as predicted.
It may be spreading faster, or maybe we’re just testing more people.
We’re getting crap data on hospitalizations and deaths, probably because both seem to be falling while infections are rising. Is this because the bug isn’t as bad as expected in the general population, or because there is a lag due to the long incubation, we don’t know.
Anicdotal info from Houston is that the hospitals are about full as of the end of last week, is this true, is it not being reported to avoid panic, is it widespread?
So, given what little info we have I can’t really evaluate the risk associated with not wearing a mask. I see no benefit to the government for suggesting, or requiring, that I wear one, and it doesn’t cost me anything, so I will generally wear one when I’m with people or not eating.
I get that some of you just don’t ever want to do what the government wants, but is there more to the argument than that you just don’t wanna wear one?
