That is one beautiful rifle right there.

My dad trained with one and was issued one when he was in the service back in the 60's, really liked them. Always wanted one myself, but man the prices on them have gone nuts. And feedin em...fuggidaboudit.

Polytech M14/S currently.

I started with M14s in ROTC in 1975. I've owned 3 M1As over the years: a Devine TX 3-digit SN in the mid 70s, a 1985 and a late 80s. The 85 and late 80s were both all GI parts. I gave the most recent one to my son when he was home on leave from Iraq in 2007. It has an HRA barrel, Winchester oprod, and TRW bolt.

I realized at Woodys earlier this week that I cannot see the plates at 200 yds with iron sights. I probably shot 30 rounds from the Polytech and scored one solid hit. I can still see targets at 100 yds with irons at least.

I’ll have to post a few of mine when I get home.

really like the M1A's, have a "Devine" one, another one with the ole Leatherwood ART scope, Super Match with
Kreiger Barrel, Super match from S.A. when The Reese Brothers had it early days it's been warmed over since,
they all like LC Match ammo, Mexican Match, 155gr-175gr Bergers in the Match ones. 8208, 4064 powder
out of all of them it's the "Devine" then the ART scoped one., like vintage..

I've about a half dozen in the last twenty years. The first one is a Loaded Standard M1A that resides in a SAGE EBR chassis. There was an early 80s one I had that was converted to an M14 Garand that I wish I'd never sold. Next was another Loaded Standard with a stainless barrel I sold to a friend. After that was no frills Standard M1A I had to sell to pay for school, at about the same time I had a Polytech that I sent to the now OOB Warbirds Custom Guns to be built into a bush length/scout squad style shorty. That in a weak moment I traded.
Now I still have the Loaded in the Sage chassis, and an ARMSCORP USGI rifle. It's all TRW except the receiver.

We give them to our enemies but the people are not allowed to have them.
I mean we gave 240B, Saws, m4 and m203s to the taliban. So its par for the course. To have any of those youde have sell your soul to the ATF wait ten years and sign a blood pact. Not to mention the "tax" stamps.

Here’s a little real M1 love.
I didn’t post elsewhere so actual M1 owners might pick these up opposed to other leaches who wish only to re-sell.

I wanted an M1A since I first saw one, and a few years ago I finally made it happen.

Its a Springfield M1A 'loaded' model, just one step down from the match. A really good shooter.

Always seemed to me that the M1A is a rifle people either love or hate. I've heard many stories about how great they are, and nearly as many telling what an awful rifle it is. Seems there's no middle ground. After finally getting to shoot mine, I can safely say that I love them. Personally, I don't understand the issue that the haters have with it.

Never owned a M1A but have carried Uncles M14/21s in the service. My first ODA at Bragg in 85' had a couple of XM21s on the team. In 94' I would use another M25 in sniper school in lieu of the M24 (teams two M24s were used by two others in the same course, I opted to use the 21). Later in 98' in Kenya a took a M14 NM in case of lions, hyenas, leopards etc. Took that same M14 NM to Iraq in 04'. Later in 06' would take that same M14 NM to the All Army Matches and shoot it with irons/sling at 600/800/1000 yds. Finished in the middle.

I have the Springfield SOCOM. I haven't fired it yet due to work and responsibilities at home. Hoping to do so soon.
You will love it!!

Surprisingly low recoil.
