Motorcycle love

Oh, and I drove 315 miles without a gas cap. Who knew I forgot to put it back on last night?

That's some good fuel mileage.

.
I filled up in Fuquay last night. Drove to Mt Airy today, ate lunch, then drove maybe 30 minutes down the mountain to fill up then realized, no gas cap. Filled up, stuffed a wadded up paper towel in the hole and drove to the HD dealer in Raleigh and bought anudder one.

Edit: Lots of 75-80 mph interstate driving just to run with traffic. I think I used four gallons up, and four gallons down. At those speeds the mileage wasn’t so great.

Hell, I was thinking 315 miles on one tank.

@fieldgrade it was worth every inch of those 315 miles to get that poke chop sammich, wasn't it?
It was pretty danged tasty. Place was BUSY, and we got there before noon. First time I’ve been back there since I was shopping for a five string banjo twenty years ago and went to a music shop there.

There is a ride at cox’s Harley this Saturday I will be helping with. Leaving Cox’s at 12pm and returning to coxs. I think they are planning around 80 miles but not sure. My stepmom is organizing it in remembrance of my stepsister that was murdered a couple years ago. All proceeds are going to the family crisis center.

Nice DR-Z! Good call with the case covers. What year is it? I had a 2002 for awhile, very fun bikes.

It is a 2020, just picked it up recently.
Still waiting on my seat concepts seat but all the other typical DR-Z mods have been done. I absolutely love it so far. So simple, so unrefined, so much fun:D

awesome! Enjoy it and stay safe

That’s why I edited my post. I don’t think I get anywhere close to advertised mileage. Not the way I drive hauling my large self anyway.
Yamaha says the Roadliner gets 45mpg and I get around 35.
I expected that, riding the twistys sucks the fuel. And all the articles about the bike say you ain't getting 45mpg, so I know it isn't just me.
The manufacturers have always been notoriously 'optimistic' about fuel economy and bike weight. (horsepower too)

@LizardKing is the only guy I know who's worn one out.

.
Ha! Yeah, like a guy I heard say at a small diner on a road trip in backwoods Kentucky. You'll have that when reach down and grab a second hand full...

Did you fellers go to England, or do you just like riding on the wrong side of the road?

We ride wherever we want! We’re not a club, we’re a gang!

...and the rider in front had his missus on back with her phone in selfie mode, which means the pic is reversed.

There should be a setting on her phone she can change to correct that. Nice pics anyway!

Logged 300mi today and shot a pistol match on the coast in between.

Rode to Denton through Farmer west of Asheboro today. That could be the prettiest drive in NC.

My weather forecasting needs some work. Caught in the rain on the way back. Again.

But this $7.00 blue plate special at Village Restaurant was GREAT.

My wife and I are planning to ride Blue Ridge Parkway some time soon....

Some buddies and I started a top to bottom BRP trip back near the end of September. The 30mph drivers slowed us down so much that when got off for the detour near Roanoke, we just rode 221 all the way to Blowing Rock. That was a great ride. The next day, same thing. The last 20 miles to Asheville was 25-30mph so we left the BRP and slabbed it to Bryson City. The BRP is a beautiful ride but sometimes you have to be patient. We just weren't feeling it those two days. 😬 I do hope you and your wife have a great ride!

The ride in this morning

dadgum. Lets talk standing water.
I love all the cage drivers in the left lane hauling ass to the stoplight. Everyone knows that if you race up to the stoplight it will be intimidated and change to green.
But what's all this hardcore biker riding in the rain stuff Goofy? I hereby call for a gofundme so we can get Goofy a car. Maybe a Yugo.

If you really ride, you need to know how to ride in the rain. If you commute like Goofy, riding in the rain is a given. Make yourself as visible as possible and go easy on the gas and brakes. Proper rain gear also helps tremendously.

Well I missed something when I buttoned up cause my pants were swimmin...

I'm hoping to join this club soon. At 48 years old, I have always wanted to learn to ride. I'm signed up to take the motorcycle safety class at HD next weekend. My 18-year old son has two (technically they are in my name): a 2005 Suzuki Katana and 1991 Honda Nighthawk CB250. Since he doesn't ride the Honda anymore, I'm going to learn on that before I go buy one of my own. I'll probably be shopping for a budget cruiser sometime this winter if anybody has one they want to sell for cheap.
