I just received the Underwood Extreme Defender 380 +p 68gr and it's not fooling my LCP Max. The first round in the mag won't chamber at all, nor the second once I manually get one in the chamber. I did get one to chamber farther down the mag and I'm not sure if that was due to less mag spring tension or the flutes randomly lining up differently.

Although I do have issues sometimes with the hollowpoints I'm carrying in it on the first round, I've never had trouble beyond that. So the hollowpoints are definitely working better than the Lehigh bullet rounds.

You can see in these pics I just took that depending on how the Lehigh bullet is turned, it can have a wider meplat than the hollowpoint and I believe that is what is causing my issue. I'm real disappointed, I wanted to carry these. I carried a version of this bullet in a Taurus 380 back when they came out with no issues so I expect it's a LCP Max problem more than anything.

Which Max magazine did you try? The extended one (12rd?) is the one I hear causes problems, and is the one that won't feed XTP hp in mine.

The ARX 9mm I ordered from Midway came in and they have the same issues but not as severe and not every round. Anyone who has reloaded recognizes this issue. They didn't flare the case mouth enough before seating the bullet. It's not a big issue, just clean the excess off before loading in your magazine. All it takes is a fingernail. Just to reiterate I'm not a fan of this ammo but I have a particular application for it that I think it will do well in.
Yep, I reload Blue Bullets and buggered one or two of them myself. I have not purchased or used any of their ammo. Only posted some pictures from a couple of reviews. From the reviews, it seems they have other issues as well.

I've been carrying the Underwood in my car guns for the past few years (when I lived in a big city) - was more interested in penetrating glass and metal if needed and real impressed with when it hits meat. Don't keep in my in the house guns - keep Liberty Ultra Light - check that one out...

Might I ask you to tell me why? (Since I value your opinion far higher than that of Underwood's.)
First I was getting some squirrely numbers in both velocity and pressures with the lighter bullets. Second, while I have not tested the lighter bullet in test medium, I think am just pretty happy with the velocity and penetration of the 90s in 9mm...........

So how many make their own carry ammo?

Carry factory Speer 124s (Gold Dot) in my G43. Only reason I don’t load those is because the GD 124 component bullets from Speer seem to be unobtanium…just like the .224 75gr Gold Dots.

Home brew 158gr CL-SWC from Missourah Bullet Company for my 360.

Let us know if the magazine makes a difference.
It did make a difference. The 10rd mag only failed to feed on the first round and only once, and only if I inserted the mag while the slide was in battery, putting pressure on that first round driving the nose down further into the mag. If I inserted the mag with the slide locked back it chambered every time. That wasn't the case with the 12rd mag, the first round jammed regardless (and the second and the...). I thought I had more 10rd mags but I don't, however the pervious owner was nice enough to provide a 10rd mag bottom (what's that part called? The external part that slides off) but unfortunately it's not compatible with the floor plate of the 12rd mag.

Update: Just ordered a 10rd mag. :)

I carry one full mag in the gun and one in a Desantis mag holder in my left back pocket. I carry the 12rd in the gun because the 10rd is easier to sit on. :) My 12rd only holds eleven without using a ridiculous amount of pressure to load the 12th that really screws things up so it's only been an 11rd mag for me so I'm not losing much by going back to the 10rd. Got a great deal for someone, I'll trade you a 12rd LCP Max mag for a 10rd!! 😛😛😛

Good to have the 10 round "reported as good " verified again. I've got 3 12 round mags. I think my plan is to carry the 10 round magazine in the gun loaded with Lehigh, and the 12 round mags will be backup and loaded with ball.
I've yet to test my own, but will report back once I do.

@Flashpoint thanks for the update. Although I was hoping for different results. But reliability is king over 2 rounds.

Currently I'm still carrying the 12rd with the Fiocchi HPs, it functions well enough with them and have the 10rd loaded with the Lehigh/Underwood ammo. The Fiocchi HPs out of an LCP 2 made it through 1 layer of denim, 1 of fleece and 2 of cotton material, achieved 13" of penetration and fully expanded to .49" in ballistic gel, so not too shabby.
