NC 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Counties - map/updates

I certainly try to keep up. If anyone knows or hears of a county resolution, let me know and I will update as soon as I can.
Burke county is going on the agenda for tomorrow night's B of C meeting...sans the sheriff. He SAYS he's a gun guy, but has yet to get back with us, after our first interaction with him. We gave him until today, and will proceed without him as of tomorrow evening.

Sorry if too brief. I'll try to keep it quick..

CO fell with a simple "majority", much like VA, in the early 2010's.

In CO, the people HAD a vote in 12/13, and recalled state representatives/senators because the people were tired of the BS...

Sheriff's protested, people yelled in the streets at the capitol, etc...

No change

Now, "dems" are in charge, & CO government is trying to roll back TABOR.

End result: no change.

"Politics" is at the end of the of its usefulness from my viewpoint... My $.02, nothing more.

And for you damn '&^*^&^%": I am a vet 11B born in VA, and I moved to CO in 95.

So you goat smelling MF's trying to insinuate that I am a poser/hacker/what the f ever can kiss my pimply a$$.

Young man, you are not impressing anyone with your MOS and veteran status around here!

As as a matter of fact you are simply showing your ignorance and lack of respect for others opinions in an environment where you are being rude to other forum members who already have earned the right to speak their opinion and not be berated by new resident of the state who allows "brown liquor" to form his opinions.taks

Maybe you should take a step back, sober up and bring your Colorado opinions out in a more reasonable manner.

I'm having to go back through the thread to realize what happened here.

Looks like union county passed one this afternoon.

Saw this posted on the Union County Sheriffs Facebook page

Sheriff Eddie Cathey's Statement Regarding Union County Board of Commissioner's 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Resolution

During Tuesday afternoon's BOCC meeting, Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution declaring Union County as a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County. In support of this resolution, Sheriff Cathey issued the below statement:

"As Sheriff of Union County, I have and will continue to strongly support and uphold the basic and fundamental rights of citizens established by the Constitution of the United States, including the Second Amendment which states in part, “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” As such, neither I nor my deputies will confiscate any firearms legally owned or possessed by law abiding citizens and therefore, fully support the resolution passed by the Board of Commissioners declaring Union County a Second Amendment Sanctuary."

The resolution passed by the Board will be posted at a later time.

I noticed that Pitt Co. was on the list I just posted (after going back about 30 min. later and realizing I never actually posted it) as having adopted the following resolution back in April of 2013. Looks like they were way ahead of everyone else. Do they qualify for Green status?

A Resolution to Preserve and Defend the United States Constitution
and North Carolina Constitution

Whereas: The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed;” and

Whereas: Article I, Sec. 30 in the NC Constitution states “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed;” and

Whereas: Our rights are given by Our Creator and listed in the Constitution of the United States as a limit to government; and

Whereas: A Militia when properly formed is in fact the people themselves … and includes … all citizens capable of bearing arms; and

Whereas: “well regulated” meant, that the militia i.e. the people must be well equipped; and

Whereas: It being “necessary to the security of a free State” meant that the right of the people to bear arms was, and remains, the ultimate barrier to government tyranny; and

Whereas: The lawless are unaffected by prohibitions to law abiding citizens natural rights; and

Therefore: The Pitt County Board of Commissioners resolve as representatives of the people to defend the 2nd Amendment and Article I, Sec. 30 of the North Carolina Constitution and will not consent to unconstitutional laws, executive orders, or foreign/domestic tyranny. Furthermore, the Commissioners call upon the Governor and General Assembly of North Carolina to pass legislation that will guarantee the protection of our God-given right to the defense of liberty and our persons for all North Carolinians; and

Be It Further Resolved, the County Manager be directed to see that no county paid staff participate in nor allow any county resources be used in the implementation or enforcement of any Unconstitutional law, executive order or executive directive that infringe on the God-given right to self-defense.

Stokes County has a republican sheriff whom I've talked to about his 2A stand. He seems to be solid.

Rockingham and Surry are too. Not sure why R'ham isn't green already.

I just didn't like the way it looked.

Totally didn't see this thread :( Lots of great info! We printed a copy of Haywood counties petition as a format.
Gonna start organizing for this. Just want to proceed the right way.

Glad to see Cabarrus is discussing it tonight, I just saw it on the news via YT. Also glad I didn’t miss the vote yet. I will absolutely be attending when they take public comment and/or vote.

I'm just curious who these state officers are that will come into counties and enforce gun laws.

Northam is asking for an 18-man VA State task force to seize banned weapons and incarcerate their owners. I think it would be like if "assault weapons" were banned in NC, and you were stopped by NC Highway Patrol coming home from the range, I expect they would follow state law. However, I wonder what would happen when HP asked for assistance from the locals? Or showed up at a 2A Sanctuary county jail with you in the back seat and wanted you booked for said violation. Magistrates, DA, and Sheriff (who runs the jail) work for the county.

Burke County is on the agenda for Feb. 18th. If any of you fine folks are from Burke, we would appreciate your attendance. Even if you're not from Burke, you're welcome to attend. Since we're on the agenda, I'm sure the opposition will be there. They always are, and they bring support and "experts" from other counties and states. I hope they bring their safety pins! Hang on boys! It might get a little bumpy!

Mecklenburg, Mecklenburg...
Buhler, Buhler...
I sent an email to all nine commissioners tonight, plus the clerk of court, the sheriff, and the chief of police.

Although, the chief is retired as of 1/1/20 but is returning for the convention. I couldn’t find where his interim replacement had been named.
