NC Troopers looking good.

Tough to get out of in a hurry when wearing a vest and gun belt. The Crown Vic and Interceptor both have reinforced floors and seats, wonder if the police Mustang does?
The SSP program has done reenforcing of various components up to even roll bars for a few states (I know Kentucky did that years back). Originally the SSP Mustangs were the coupe not a fastback because of body stiffness and weighed a little less than hatchers. I’d guess there is an option somewhere for a little engineering … BUT it ain’t gonna add interior space for an “equipped” trooper.

About the funniest thing I ever saw was an early 90’s Fox Body Texas DPS “give birth” to what had to be a 6’4” 230lb DPS Officer who coulda played linebacker for the Long Horns. Getting out was not to bad but him crawling back in was a chore … legs folding up and head so tight he was having to almost tuck his chin in his chest.

How does it handle at that speed? The interceptor utility has a top speed of 148 and 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. I wonder how much faster the Mustang is.

A regular 5.0 is electronically limited to 155 mph from the factory. Supposedly with a little electric tinkering it can see 165 or so with no physical work. The additional weight the NCSHP will add with their accessories and the troopers equipment will add weight which will shave a little speed off … and if they add any auxiliary equipment that changes aerodynamics that will cut speed also.

SO happy to see my tax dollars being well spent on the kings fundraisers...... Tremendous waste of $$ and time. Zero utility and insanely expensive to implement at a time when the citizens are hurting monitarily.....🤬🤡 clown world... pick up that can citizen and don't question king cooper...

Yes but we must render fealty and gold to our betters to do with as they will, remembe?

Since govt does not create anything, the taxpayers are “purchasing” expensive LE vehicles with limited utility. While the mustang looks sharp, it is outside the scope of tools needed to carry out their duties. Further, the public perception of LE is not aided by ostentatious vehicles.

If they arrest someone do they put him in the trunk?
NCHP doesn't have cages in the Charger. As I understand it they usually put suspects in the passenger seat. They do a lot of things different from most depts.
They didn't go with the Mach-E version?
Some of the PDs around the triangle have them. Travelling much over 70mph reportedly burns BEV range, and take home vehicles make charging complicated.
Yay. More cool toys we have to pay for…and if you don’t like it at all the “back the blue no matter what” crowd will pounce.
I am one of the last people anyone would accuse of backing the blue. We pay $42k for V6 Pursuit Durangos before upfitting, doubt it cost much more, if any. There is no police model sedan in production anymore.

I can't speak for everyone but the trooper that arrested me pawned off the uber to the jail off on a sheriff deputy.

It has to cost less than all the fully outfitted Yukons, no??

In the day and age of helicopters and radios, where are cops going that they need vehicles capable of 100+ mph? "high speed" chases should be a thing of the past. Everytime one of these cowboys races up and down the road 'in hot pursuit' they put us all in danger.

They'll have to radio for a cruiser just like the MC offices or troopers.

When my son was in, every once in a while, he would have to patrol in a car that didn't even have a siren.

They would play siren sounds from their phone over the PA
I remember when I was a teenager and one local municipality used Chrysler K-Cars.

My back could not handle getting in and out of that everyday. No, I would want a Yukon or SUV.

When I was a paramedic we had surplus highway patrol Dodge Durangos and Crown Vics. Those things could haul ass.

Yeah, if they ride anything like the Fox 5.0's they're great fun cars but I would not like to drive them 8 hrs per day (unless on the interstate).

Some of those old boys are going to have to drop some weight to run these cars.

Pretty subtle when viewed from the front or the rear(thinking about those of speed on 95)

My son and I saw a couple around the northbound rest stop just west of Burlington yesterday, laying in wait, plus two other SHP cars with trucks pulled over within a couple miles of that. But the two pursuit cars (Mustangs) was waiting to ambush their prey.
