??? on CHP application process

That would be great, are you sure about that?
Yes, you can carry on an expired permit if you submitted the renewal before the expiration date.

No, you cannot use an expired CHP in place of a PPP.

I'd have to say residency is mentioned nowhere at all so all permits are honored, if they wanted to make a distinction between permits this would be the place they'd have to have that listed.
that is correct and what was confirmed by several calls to the DOJ several posts down from mine. đź‘Ť

Absolutely. Came straight from the lady that handles all the paperwork for Burke county.
She told me that they enter it into the system when you start the renewal process. So it shows up to the officer as pending renewal.

COVID has caused a lot of this. DMV has a Grace period on drivers licenses now. DOT also for CDL’s.

That is nice to know in that case I am golden. I just renewed and mine doesn't even expire until 12/21.

Renewed on 8/31. was told 6-7 weeks out. We shall see how long. Exp 11-26-21. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Coworker had a new one turned around in 3 weeks, so who knows.

how long did it actually take for you to get your fingerprint appointment and get your permit?
Posted earlier…

I finally got my CHP.
- Attended CC class 2nd Saturday of Jan 2021 @ PDHS in Raleigh
- Sent application the following week, got an appoint to submit application mid-July 2021
- Submitted application per mid-July 2021 appointment
- Got permit in mail mid-September 2021
Whew!

Picked up yesterday, just stopped by and asked if it was in. Deputy opened file and yep, there it was. 5 weeks, 3 days. I'm good for a while.

Took me 6 months. The nice lady told me after the printing that the permit will arrive in 60 to 90 days

With NC it all depends on the county you are in. I teach the class and have some people waiting a few months for appointment then another few for processing.
