Oops.... (Gruesome pics inside)

So the gloves have saved me a lot of down time from nasty cuts. Go ahead and get a pair or two. On a couple occasions I have connected hard enough I just new I cut myself through them, and never once actually cut myself.
My dad always taught me that if I had to rely on my last ditch safety, I'd been doing a few things wrong to get to that point... 😝
Of course my dad also tried to get me to eat dog food when i was a kid as a life lesson about being "hungry enough" so I can't vouch for everything he said and did...

I hate that you injured yourself and hope you get well soon. Leaving a knife in a vise is an accident waiting to happen unfortunately, even for a few seconds. (speaking from experience.) I read a post where a guy almost bleed out when he walked into the blade that was held horizontally in the vise. I made a wooden jig that fits in my vise that resembles a very small ironing board. I clamp the knife to it when I'm working at the vise. The point or the tip are never off the board.

Well that's an idea worth stealing. Note to self(write it down stupid cause you ain't gonna remember it).

Here is a photo with a knife positioned to sand and work that side. There is a board screwed to the bottom of the flat sanding board to fit in the vise. If you look at it in cross section it would resemble a 'T'. Hope this helps someone!

Yup. I use something similar for blades before scales are added. In this case it was one of my own personal blades that was finished out already with G10 scales. I wanted to touch up and experiment with a different grit hand finish.... Should have left well enough alone lol.

I can use this with handles mounted as well. I use leather to protect the scales from the clamp.
