As title says, I need glass for my Noveske N6 AR10. 16" barrel. A few considerations:
1: Weight. This thing is already a pig and I plan on hanging the Chimera off the front of it whenever I shoot. I am not going with a bipod for now. I'd like to get this thing to where I can shoot it standing, off hand as well, and effective out to a couple of hundred yards. And do that for sustained periods. Yes, I can hit the gym, but I'd at least like weight to be a consideration.
2: Magnification. When I actually do get to shoot (which is so little as is), I don't have anywhere to take the gun past maybe 250 yards. No biggie. However if the time comes, I'd like to have something that can stretch to 300-400. I know this thing isn't 6.5 or one of the other more distant friendly rounds, but the cartridge is more than capable for what I'd be doing recreationally (and you know, for any zombie apocalypse).
3: Cost. I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for", however I also believe in "don't drink the koolaid", as in just because a certain piece may be $3-4K doesn't make it better than the right $1,500-$2,000 optic.
4: Reticle. Jesus Flicking Christ why are there so many damn choices and one offs? I mean my God, you can get everything from a damn small triangle with two lines running down to something that looks like the math and charts from my hardest Physics test in college.
So having said all of the above, I've research offerings from Trijicon, Nightforce, Leupold, US Optics, Vortex, Kahles, Steiner, SB, etc. I really am overwhelmed and overall under enthused to the point that I am considering just waiting until the Razor HD GEN IIs go back down to $899 and throwing a 1-6 on it. In all honesty, it would probably serve me very well. I could pull my current one off me PWS to try and see how the magnification makes me feel at 250, but I know the answer (pretty damn good). What I don't know is how I'd feel much past that or heaven forbid I get into dialing or hold overs.
So what say you all? I am really intrigued by some of the 2-10 or 2.5-10 offerings from Nightforce and USO, but given how much I like the Razor HD, there 3-18 offerings could be great for the money (if not overkill). But they weigh so damn much! I also read that the Leupold VX6 with Firedot was a nice one for the money and only weighs like 17 ounces (most I am looking at are in the high 20s, nearly 30 ozs).
HELP!
