Well today's boy scout handbook want say boy nowhere on it I'm sure. And probably has diagram in the back of how to use tampons. It's such a shame the boy scouts have become such a joke. My grandpa was a scout master for close to 60 years all the way up until his death. My dad growed up in the boy scouts and I did some scouting as a kid. It's where my love of leatherwork started in a church basement as a Cub Scout. My grandpa passed away before the scouts lost there f'n minds and me and my dad say it's a good thing cause he would have went off seeing what's his life's work became. There is a nature preserve I take my dogs to frequently, you've seen photos in this thread. By a pond there is one of those "take a book, leave a book" lending library things. I've taken to leaving books there, mostly conservative books like Barry Goldwater's Conscience of a Conservative, William F. Buckley books, and copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. I also leave a few general interest books. When I go back, the books I left are always gone. I'd like to think people took them home to read them, but one has doubts... anyway, I keep taking more books. Today I checked it and my books were gone, so when I got home I put together a small collection to take next time. One of the books that I hope may be helpful to someone is my old Boy Scout Handbook. I don't know exactly how old it is, but it says Copyright 1959 and it must have been printed about then. The Boy Scouts were a very positive influence on young Red Marley in the 1960s and I'm thankful for having good Scoutmasters and Scout camps. It's where I first shot a gun, a .22 trainer on a real rifle range. Anyway, I was looking through the old manual and thinking just how great a book it is and how it will benefit some young man if it gets into the right hands. In the back there are ads from various companies, and I thought you lot might enjoy seeing them. I'd bet folding money there are no ads like this in whatever passes for a Boy Scout Handbook today.

I too was in the beaver patrol. True story.Looking at the Scouting website I see there is no longer a Marksmanship merit badge ☹️. But as a member of the Beaver patrol, I might be interested in the one for Motorboating 😃

The Marksmanship merit badge still exists.
Not a tree hugger but I hate to see that. Was it dead?Big White oak across the street came down today. Made it home just in time to see this soldier laid to rest.
250+ years old.
Local guy is going to slab it with a chainsaw mill.

Bleached the finish off the floor of my windini-made sink base. Bottle sprung a leak after 2 months or so.
That one largish tree right on the back near the feeder creek is an elderberry, if you felt so inclined as to keep something.
