Pissed at Walmart. Again!

I won't give my date of birth either. I might make one up on the spur of the moment.

First, an accurate DOB can contribute to identity theft. Second, the law doesn't requiure it. Third, we are all pretty sure I am over twenty one. I mean WAY over. :)
We should all, and I mean everyone here, respond with 7/4/1776. I wasn't smart enough to think of that on my own; I had help right here at CFF.

I use 12151791 - it's my handle

As long as I can remember to use that date, it shouldn't be questioned. 7/4/76 is just under 14 months away from my actual birth date.

I did that last year and she looked at me like I was crazy. She asked me to repeat it and I said July 4th 1776, she just ring up the sale.

ID for ammo? Sheeeeit I gotta ask for permission to get a can of rustoleum

I have a daughter who's birthdate is 7/6/76

Walking away from the counter may put a little nick in the retailer's bottom line, but unless you write a letter to their corporate office, they won't get the message.

The main reason I don't like to shop at WalMart is not because Big Brother is putting my ammo purchase in a database, but that WM hires people that can't figure out your age based on your birth date. These little conveniences are enabling the dumbing down of America.

Yes, about two weeks ago. Refused to sell me 22 ammo without providing my DOB... I'm grey hair grown ass man and now I'm pissed off enough to walk out without any of my purchases.
December 25 of a random year. They've never asked me to see my license.

Almost as bad as Wendy's yesterday. I gave the girl a $100. She went to the back. Brought out 4 twenty's and 4 fives and couldn't figure out how to take the $4.27 out of what she had.

As I was walking out the door the manager came from the back and asked to see my ID. I asked what for. Said it was state law that any bill over a $20 they had to record. I told her to f#$@ her state law.

The ignorance of people baffle me.

If you really ever want to screw with a clerk, give them change so that the change they owe you comes out even - price $1.97 so you give them $2.02 so that you get a nickel back. I hat pennies so I get rid of them as I can.

News flash, if you ever bought ammo online or used a credit/debit card to purchase ammo that is way more traceable than telling a Walmart drone your DOB.

That said I wouldn't let them scan my ID. They can look it to verify DOB but I've never seen or heard of them actually scanning it.

I had a gas station ask for my ID last fall in Black Mountain NC to buy beer. I'm over 60. I grudgingly handed him my NCDL. He started to scan it and I snatched it out of his hand. Told him the law requires none of that. He asked me to please leave. I loudly complied.

Yeah the scanning thing is new to me and seems a bit extreme. If the guy wants to be an idiot and ask to look at it whatever but what's the point in scanning it?

It was a big chain type gas station and I am guessing store policy wouldn't let him process the transaction without the scan. The 40 something year old clerk (who didn't otherwise seem like a dumbass) made as big a scene about it as I did. My wife was standing there and probably wanted to just shoot both of us.

Yes we are aware of all that. I just like supporting small(er) businesses by ordering from them without dealing with the parking, hoarders, and poor service that Wal-Mart has. As a bonus, I can usually order ammo for the same or less than going through the hassle that is the Wal-Mart experience. Buy you are right, everything you do is tracked.

I guess the scanning is a way to weed out the fake IDs but there should be a way to process a transaction if the person is clearly not underage.

It blows their minds.

I've been doing that for years, not to purposely mess with anyone but just out of habit.

The looks you get when doing that are, priceless!

I hate Walmart. Just sayin. Never bought ammo from there. Would rather go to Cabelas.
Cabelas in Garner tried to card me for handgun ammo. I know I am baby-faced, but saying you have to be 21 to buy the ammo is stupid.

I'm also guessing no one in this thread has a rewards card of any kind, right? They build an entire profile of people about what they buy, income, etc.

Just shout the only one I use is from Food Lion, because you get the "sale" prices that way. They have incorrect and outdated information at best: old addresses to San apartment building, an invalid phone number, invalid obsolete email. All worthless information, but I get the discount. Hell, there is nothing on there that guarantees I gave them my real name.

No, but how many people do you think do that? If you want the coupons and crap that some stores send they need a current address. It is still an information gathering machine that people seem to not think about.

I was aked today for my birthday at Academy sports FOR AIRSOFT BBs

I immediately responded Jul 4th 76
Good grief. My kids lost interest once they turned 13.

My local Walmart asks me if the ammo is for a rifle or handgun. Well, of course it's for a rifle. After all, it says .22 Long RIFLE right there on the box. And then they ask me for my birthday. I've never had them ask to see the NCDL. At least not yet.

Mine local Walmart does the same thing.
