PSA AK-V First Shots & Thoughts

Mine was delivered at my FFL today but I'll likely wait until tomorrow or Monday to go get it. I've also got a Holosun HE509T coming for it Monday. Still debating on adding a light like @IUHoosier429 . Also interested to test the 5 different types of Scorpion mags I have. Guess I should also go ahead and order the 3-lug muzzle device so I can run my Omega 9K on it.

I have done a decent amount of testing with different ones and the best for it are the PSA mags. They’re also the best “scorpion type” mags period with their steel feed lips, and rubber base plates, very solid mags.

I have tried the Magpul, Factory scorpion and manticore mags, and while all will function just fine and lock the bolt back on last round, they are all difficult with insert into the magwell. The Magpul is by far the worst and I have to slap the hell out of it to seat.

Ditto what Derek said, @JRHorne. I actually prefer PSA's AK-V mags over the CZ mags in both guns.

More in stock as of right now.

Also, picked up mine today. I can tell I am going to love this thing. My Holosun 509 is supposed to be delivered today as well if USPS doesn't screw it up. I already have split fix to install. Gotta get that ALG trigger now!

Also, anyone know of a good hi-viz front sight post? There's really no contract between front post and rear side blades.

How do these compare to the HK MP5 roller locked guns. It is a straight blow back similar to the CZ Scorpion correct?

There's a piece of 💩 local to me with a used one for sale for $1,500. I imagine it'll be for sale for some time.

Following this thread. I've been itching to get something "AK like". Does anyone know if PSA has raised their prices with covid or has it stayed the same?

Last I saw on the AK-V a few months ago, the prices were pretty much in line with when I bought mine last year. They have more models now and some have upgrades so price does vary some, but I don’t think there has been an overall “COVID jump” on the AK-V line.

That's great news, thanks. I've been between trying to get an AKV or a psa ak gf3 so I can shoot more. The other guns I have are too expensive to shoot. 556 being upwards of 60cpr it's been left to collect dust.

Of those that have said it's your favorite gun, in your opinion is it a better buy to get an AKV over a 762 akm? For someone that has no PCC or AK at all.

if you think 60c per round is expensive for 5.56, you should see the price on 9mm right now.

aside from x39 being fairly cheap and available right now, I would absolutely get an AK-V. Hands down my favorite gun to shoot.

I have a stockpile of 9 I just don't know how long it is going to last lol. x39 doesn't seem to fluctuate as much as 9 and 556 though.

Not happy with all the talk of restricting/registering/banning braces but I have been toying with the idea of SBRing my AKV for a while now. If they're gonna let me do it for free don't see why I shouldn't take advantage of it.

You get what you pay for, and down the road that "free" is gonna cost ya way more than the going price of 9mm.

But thank goodness they'll "let" you do it. Maybe you should look at your avatar GIF once more before making a decision.

I understand what you're saying and I didn't say I was going to run out and register all of my pistols as SBRs. As I said, going the SBR route with my AKV is something I already wanted to do and have already come to terms with what's required to do that.
